Actually there has been a pretty good turnover in players since MM became HC.
Yes he inherited some leftovers and some rotten groceries as well. But he has quite a few fresh ones to work with now.

However, there are still a handful of Garrett's left.

Well, I was referring more to the lack of free agents, compared to Garrett.

I'm not sure why everyone hates on McCarthy. He's done an impressive job here in my opinion. Unfortunately, I do feel this will be his last season here, likely replaced by Belichick aka the head coach who has never won anything without Brady.

Dallas Cowboys' Mike McCarthy 1st Fired HC Betting Favorite?
RICHIE WHITTJUL 19, 2024

Over 34 seasons and eight head-coach firings (counting Tom Landry in 1989), only once has Jerry Jones made an in-season change. Could it happen this year if Mike McCarthy's Dallas Cowboys get off to a slow start?

In 2010 - only nine months removed from the team's first playoff win in 13 years - the owner fired Wade Phillips and replaced him with Jason Garrett. The Cowboys entered the season as defending NFC East champs, but an early season-ending injury to quarterback Tony Romo led to games started by backups Jon Kitna and Stephen McGee and the season hit rock bottom in an embarrassing 45-7 loss at Green Bay on Sunday Night Football.

3 of the top 6 are NFC East HC's!
It would be a shame if McCarthy loses his job over a quarterback he was saddled with.
Then again he knew what he was getting into. He should have been man enough and coach enough to call out the real problem with his team.
I think he's a great coach, but he might not have seen it.

...well, the GB rug-burn still cooking in Jerry 's mind. I cant blame him.

MM better hope, this team comes guns blazing outside the gates. Or its going to be long year.

How in the world does a coach go 12-5 for three consecutive seasons and then be considered the first to be fired..... during the season?

A former Super Bowl winning HC has won the 2nd most games in the past three combined regular seasons, one game behind the Chiefs,

I get that they have done poorly in the playoffs. However, if he is fired for playoffs losses then it won't happen during the season will it?

I'm not saying he won't get fired, but there would have to be a complete breakdown of the team combined with extraordinary circumstances for McCarthy not to last a whole season. There is just too much talent for this team to take a sudden nosedive.

At the very least, he shouldn't be considered a favorite for first to go. I could name a half dozen coaches that are treading thinner water

Dak or McCarthy should’ve been sent packing after last season.

They did nothing.

This franchise is a joke and now we have to waste another season because of ownership dragging their feet.
They’re too damn cheap to make any real changes

They’d argue that they have to pay 3 max deals which is true but I don’t understand why they’re forcing it.

Dak’s not an advantage for us in big games.

If McCarthy loses his job, it won't be because of Dak. He should have already lost his job.
I was ready to see him go after his end of season press conference from last year, but I still think he's a good coach.
But I have no respect for sell-outs.

Why are the Cowboys always among betting favorites in things they don't ever do? Like firing coaches during the season and winning Super Bowls?
Because line 1 in the business of all things NFL is
to include the team EVERYONE has an opinion on.
The Dallas Cowboys. But you know this already, lol.

But who are the complete fools that bet enough on the Cowboys doing these thing to make them favorites every year?

Zimmer has Cowboy history and would be a credible HC.

But the trick is who would replace McCarthy as OC?

not even close. I think the betting money should be on Nick Siriani to be fired first. He nearly got fired after last season. Probably should have. If the Eagles start slowly, he could get canned midseason. McCarthy is safe til the end of the year, no matter the outcome.

The guy on the Iggles may be the 1st, followed by the guy on the Jets. MM isn't going anywhere, and I'm not even sure he dpesn't re-up after the season, lol
