Yes that was my whole point to show you that you were wrong.
Yes, but you were wrong because you didn't understand the conversation we were having. It was always about re-signing players two years early instead of signing them the last year of their contract. This is why the discussion was about Lamb and Parsons. Lamb is in the last year of his contract, so the Cowboys are trying to sign him to an extension. Parsons has two years left on his contract and the team has shown that it doesn't do extensions two years out unless there is something like a holdout. Diggs was not relevant to my comment because he was signed the last year of his contract. I never argued that he wasn't.

Let’s just agree to disagree. This has gone on enough already.

Won't get done. Number is too big and the yacht needs to have the barnacles scraped off the hull. No signings this offseason of the big 3. They are all under contract currently. Next year is when the yacht sails into the Bermuda triangle.

As contract negotiations loom for key players, securing the star wide receiver becomes the immediate focus to ensure offensive stability and future success.
by Igor Ivanov May 29, 2024

The Dallas Cowboys have maintained a relatively low profile this offseason, despite looming potential long-term deals for key players such as quarterback Dak Prescott, linebacker Micah Parsons, and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, negotiations for Lamb’s contract could become an immediate focus.

Archer reported on Wednesday that “talks with Lamb could begin in earnest soon, with an eye on getting finalized in training camp.” This urgency is driven by the potential increase in Lamb’s market value, especially if the Minnesota Vikings secure a deal with Justin Jefferson. The contracts of other top receivers like Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions and A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles, who are earning $30 million and $32 million annually, respectively, set a high benchmark.

Currently, Lamb and Prescott are both entering the final year of their contracts, while Parsons is signed through 2025, with the franchise tag available for use in 2026 if necessary. Given this timing, Archer noted that “of the Cowboys’ big three, Parsons’ deal is likeliest to be on the back burner.”

Prioritizing Lamb is a strategic move for the Cowboys. At just 25 years old, Lamb has established himself as one of the NFL’s best wide receivers. Last season, he earned First-Team All-Pro honors with an NFL-best 135 catches for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. This marked his third consecutive Pro Bowl appearance, with career-highs in receptions, yardage, and touchdowns.

As long as Dak isn't on the table and they let him play-out this season, It's all good. Actually, it would be better if he sits and Dak gets to show us how he carries the team in a year he can show-case his true merits for a new contract.

Our incompetent front office has mastered the art of procrastination. Instead of taking proactive steps to sign our star players early, they continue to wait, allowing our stars to gain the upper hand. If they haven't already started negotiating with Lamb, it's already too late.

Good. Lamb is most deserving of the big 3 Cowboys who are due a raise.

Who cares? Sign all 3, don't sign them. We aren't winning a Super Bowl either way. Better for us if we trade them for picks.

Really good question.
Not its not. What part of they arent gonna sign him until they are for sure they are resigning prescott do you guys not get? If we lose prescott we are gonna rebuild and theres no need in having a 30 million dollar WR in a rebuild.

That’s not true. Prescott has free agency waiting for him. What if he signs with another team? Are the Cowboys just going to decide they don’t need a quality wide receiver to compete in the NFL because Prescott is gone? The Vikings are going to pay Jefferson north of $32 million AAV, CeeDee will then sign for close to that soon after. Prescott is a separate issue with different variables to consider.

You couldnt be more wrong if prescott goes so does lamb and possibly even parsons. They will use parsons and lamb to gain picks for a new qb and with the other picks they will surround the qb with young talent. By the time the QB we get is ready to compete lamb and parsons will be in there 30's.

It takes two to make a deal, so even though the Cowboys may want this deal to happen sooner rather than later, CeeDee and his management may want this deal to happen on a different timeline when other top WRs have reset the market.

Of course. Jerry loves him some WR's. We could have Aaron Donald, Chris Jones, and Aidan Hutchinson on this team, and Jerry would prioritize WR. Hades, he'd prolly cut them all and overpay Lamb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you're right, but since Jerry has never done this before, I have serious doubts.

The Cowboys, by now, have an idea of what they want to pay Dak Prescott. It’s obviously less than his agent believes he can get as a free agent. So, he’s as good as gone. And you believe that sans Dak Prescott the Cowboys will throw their arms in the air and unload two of their best players for draft picks and start from scratch? That’s the plan? Does McCarthy remain head coach in this plan? Does Diggs get traded, as well? For more draft picks? Do you think Dak is the lynch pin for the success of the Dallas Cowboys and without him the teams comes crashing down? By the time the next QB would be ready, according to you, Jerry Jones, if he’s still living will be at or near 90 years old. Do you think Jerry’s plan is to do what you believe the plan is? If Dak were that critical wouldn’t he have been offered a top of market deal by now?
