Everyone knows that Romo has 2 years left. Tops. If the brass wants to move up and grab a QB, then kudos to them for planning for the future.

Winston could easily slip to the middle of the first.

If you look at the teams who are picking early, only Tampa Bay, Cleveland and maybe the Jets are looking for a QB. The Iggles as well, but they only have 1 guy in mind.

Now think about it. I'm not convinced the Bucs take Winston. I feel they are leaning towards Mariota. The Jets will probably go with a pure passer in Hundley. Cleveland is the dark horse in this. With their ties to Mariota, they could package picks and move up to #2 to take him, but that only works if Winston goes #1. Or Perhaps Tampa gives their #1 to Cleveland and takes Petty or Grayson later.

Maybe the Cowboys tried their card with the shoulder issue to scare teams away. Plus, if Winston sits for 2 years, he can learn, and heal if his shoulder was an issue.

Jerry is a businessman first. What better way to expand the brand by picking a kid worshiped on the East Coast?

Hundley, pure passer?

You need to inform the GM. He's counting on 5.

Its tough to know how long he has. He might only have 1 year left if hit at the right spot. Then again with an improved offensive line, a running game, and health that appeared to be noticeably better at the end of the season than the beginning anything is possible. I would still prepare for the worst case scenario though.

As for Winston, you prepare for every player. He won't slip now, but if he had because of some sort of shoulder issue, the Cowboys would need to know if they should draft him or pass on him like the rest of the clubs in front of them.

The Bucs will almost certainly take Winston and mid first round? Not gonna happen.

That's a little odd that it was the Cowboys.

I think they learned their lesson of not thoroughly checking out all of the details of all possible players with the Claiborne ordeal. They didn't interview him prior to the draft and totally missed that he is weak minded.

Maybe they are practicing evaluating elite QB's so when the time comes for us to pick one that we've already gone through the process somewhat.

Very good point. That definitely could be what they're doing.

Interesting theory- you may very well be right.
If that's the case, I think it to be a wise move.
