BREAKING: Cowboys' Rookie Maliek Collins Has Broken Foot - Tom Ryle, Blogging The Boys
Dallas suffers its first significant injury of 2016 during OTAs.

He will miss the remainder of OTAs and the minicamp, and is expected to be available during the latter part of training camp. The projected recovery is 10 to 12 weeks, according to the report.

Next Step For Dez At OTAs; R. McClain Update; Gathers Returns; More - Bryan Broaddus, Dallas Cowboys
The Mothership gives us some notes from the media portion of OTAs, including some potential good news for the Cowboys star wideout.

"Hopefully he’ll be cleared to take the next step and then we have to decide what that next step is," Garrett said. "He’s done a really good job in his rehab. He’s been involved in some of the walk-through situations and I think he’s benefited from that. He has not practiced. Once he does some of the walk-through stuff, he’s really watching practice and doing his rehab on the side."

From the article:
Lucky Whitehead: I'm a little perplexed as to what Whitehead's involvement in the offense will be in 2016. It felt this past season that the gadget plays they were giving Whitehead were just to provide a spark to awful offensive unit. With more weapons in 2016 and more mouths to feed, Whitehead could see less time on the field. However, he's still the team's most capable return-man so there is no reason why the Cowboys should give up on him just yet.

Seriously? Good to know "we shouldn't give up on him just yet"

I know, what was meant by that. Should have been worded much different. Unless that writer thinks there are reasons to doubt him. If he does he should say why, not just make the statement.
I am all for competition, but I don't think any fans have given up on him.

I'm kinda over my RoMac fascination.

I love the guy also, but don't get it. I also don't get the Dmac out deal, unless someone passed away, etc. You have all offseason to do these kind of things and the week of practice something comes up? Really?

Romac is clearly playing under special circumstances that he and the team agreed to that the fans just don't know about.

I agree. Whatever it is going on with the dude, the team knows about it and is tolerating it. Even going back to the start of the offseason, they'd identified him as somebody they were excited to resign. Whatever his part of the deal is, he's living up to it.

I don't like him, though. He makes some electrifying plays, but I hate depending on him. And I hate that he can legitimately be gone at any point because he's got substance issues.

I have a lot of time to do things, but yet something else always comes up, just when I try to get something done. It happens to everyone.

You would think with the addition of Jaylon Smith he'd be even more motivated to anchor himself a long-term roster spot, but "Nah Bruh. I'm too busy for that." If he wanted to be the best he could be, he'd wouldn't be a no-show.

True. But Jaylon is "expected" to make a full recovery otherwise he wouldn't have been drafted. And that's why I said long-term. Point is, if you care about your football team, you show up for work. I have family problems. We all have family problems. But I still go to work.

I feel the same way.

It's cool to read these updates during a time when not much else is happening, but in the grand scheme of things it really is nothing more than voluntary activities.

Just hope everyone gets through them healthy and the rooks look good.

Pretty much. Look, just show up 16 days a year and stay out of prison. Deal?

Bingo. There's a ton that goes on behind the scenes. I trust that the staff has it under control.
