Dallas Cowboys, the only NFL team not allowed to lose

Is Phillips the best, no but only Switzer had more regular wins in his first three years as Cowboy head coach than Wade.

Wade had 13, 9, 11

Switzer 12, 12, 10

Not trying to hate, but these two coaches are also the only Cowboys coaches that were ever given a quality team created by superior predecessors. That stat is not a statement of coaching quality.

And to the OP, yes, the Cowboys are not allowed to lose. We've been in almost 20% of all Super Bowls ever played and been in 70% of the playoffs over that time. Success like that brings high expectations, a lot of front running fans, and a lot of hate from the rest of the league. People shrug when the Chargers lose. It'll take a couple more decades like the last one for the Cowboys to be regarded that way.

Whenever we win a "big game", it stops being a big game when we win. Whenever we lose a game, it is always a big game.

Romo allegedly couldn't win the big game, we all thought that was over after NO and the two Eagle games but nope, now he can't win the game game again.

It is beyond sickening.

do you also complain when the media love pours in EVERY SEASON so long as the cowboys string a few wins together? Do you enjoy the high expectations of being america's team or do you want to be treated like everyone else?
The reason the cowboys have so many haters is because they generate more hype than any team with their lack of accomplishments in the last decade or so..just my opinion

I think when you lose a game by 31 points you deserve to be ridiculed.

Craig

The Ravens lost pretty badly also but I don't see them being on ESPN and NFLN 24/7... The standard is way different for the Cowboys, if you don't know that then you haven't been following team or sports very closely...

Well it is a bit irritating but don't take it to heart. It is more indicative of those that scoff and revel in Cowboy missteps and bad games that they have an identity crisis at hand and need to fill the void of insecurity by wrapping their mood and self worth in the happenings of a professional football team that they voyeur with malice.

In other words they have no life and all they have is the superficial losses of a sports team to fill their days with a sense of purpose, a strange one to say the least, they are to be pitied more than reviled.

Come judgment day it will look pretty foolish that their life's pursuit was to gripe on-line about a professional sports team they decided to hate and that somehow this was to be deemed productive and praiseworthy.

Did Wade take over a top talent team though? We were 9-7 the last two years under Parcells. He never won more than 10 games with that team.

I would take Parcells over Wade any day but Wade has gotten more out of them than Parcells.

Is that Romo's fault? He has received some criticism as if he was supposed to be Superman yesterday. Some are saying Favre did better under pressure, but Favre was not under the same type of duress. The Cowboys got beaten. It happens to every team, but the Cowboys get lambasted way more than others. It comes with the territory.

and they get praised and blown way more than others when not deserved....they are one of the teams that are always in the limelight and that's how they have marketed themselves as "America's Team" since the '70s....so be careful what you wish for as the fishbowl can fuel ire as much as praise.

Factual errors present, Dallas never marketed the moniker "America's team" the nFL and media did, Landry hated it because Dallas was already the winningest team of the decade and being gunned for,

Dallas is in the spotlight because they win more than anyone, have more playoff appearances, playoff wins, super bowl appearances and until last year super bowl wins.

It has nothing to do with 70s marketing and everything to do with consistent winning.

Dallas hasn't had a losing record in any decade of play, even after the lackluster start to the last one they rebounded.

It's not just the media though. I think this is a mentality the media has taken on thanks to the way a lot of Cowboys fans look at things.

the media and the fans that love to argue feed off each other.

if the media's craptrap of what they call journalism was ignored (as it should be) they'd go away because no one was paying attention.

but in the online world of traffic = revenue, what you say and how you say it is FAR LESS important if it doesn't bring in traffic.

Romo is supposed to be able to win WITHOUT an O-line...

Oh please quit your complaining. Peyton Manning had the same thing most of his early career. It wont stop until he wins a super bowl.

The fact is those games were big at the time, but not as big as the Vikings game. The NFL success is week to week. My vikings for example were superbowl bound early in the year they choke a few games everyone thinks their season is over. We beat you guys and people are back on the bandwagon

Next week if they lose by alot to the Saints they will all be back to being bums and chokers...Just the way it is in the NFL your rep is determined by your most recent game.

Romo or the Boys arent uniuqe to this

I said it comes with the territory. Is this selective reading on your part or the need to take a shot at the team you claim to love? By the way, the Cowboys did not start the America's Team thing (no quotations necessary because they really are), but they are smart enough to roll with it. Like I said, it all comes with the territory.

Well if this is true then that means the cowboys are the only team in the nfl where the moniker "what have you done for me lately" does not apply. Consistent winning? This is the first playoff game the cowboys have won that current highschool seniors have memory of. The saints and falcons (two of the losingest franchises in the nfl) have more credibility than us with those currently entering adulthood.
The only thing keeping the cowboys media reputation high is the fact that the u.s market is still populated by those bandwagoners who jumped on in the early 90s...when those people check out you better hope theyve turned things around if u still want to be america's team. No disrespect but i just dont think the next generation of football fans are going to care about past superbowl wins ...

Get ready to go back to being bums and chokers, then. And, oh yeah, get your troll *** off our message board.

You really must've failed basic math.

Dallas has been competitive since 2005 and has a winning record for the decade, complied with a winning legacy and yes there is great interest in the Dallas Cowboys.

We as fans can take the "embrace the hate" approach to it.

But I just don't think it is fair to Romo.

Why should he be judged any differently than other QB's?

He is just a kid trying to lead his team and win a Super Bowl.

Why should he be held to loftier standards.

If he were the QB of another NFL team he would be thought of more highly, ... it should not be that way.

The worst part of it for me is that the media punks writing this stuff never wore shoulder pads or a helmet, and would pee their pants if they had to stand in an NFL pocket one time with NFL defenders crashing down on them, and yet there they are judging Romo unfairly because they are pansies and don't like the Cowboys.

a winning record for the decade has equated to one win against the sixth seed in the playoffs...
we are not arguing whether the cowboys suck...they dont
we are arguing whether they deserve the media love, attention, and criticism when they inevitably dont live up to expectations..

oh and way to turn it personal. nice pic of u and ur man btw...

How many Super Bowls has San Diego won?

Expectations are much higher in Dallas. We have a history of winning, so that is what is expected. Especially when you have a team this talented, they are expected to win. It may not be fair, but it is what it is. It's like the Yankees, if they don't win the World Series, the season is a disappointment.

San Diego in recent years has definitely become the king of choking in the postseason though, I will say that. At least our loss was on the road in one of the toughest stadiums to get a win. Another team that is overlooked for choking is the Colts. You never hear about the fact that they have 1 Super Bowl win in 9 trips to the postseason (this year being the 10th, we'll see how it turns out). It wasn't until Manning's 7th postseason that he won a Super Bowl, Dungy's 5th. So let's not get our panties all in a bunch here, we can still get back to winning it all with Romo and Wade.
why?

we haven't done **** in ages

those Super Bowls might well have been centuries ago

The Vikings are the NFC equivalents of the Buffalo Bills.

Each of your teams have lost 4 Super Bowls, correct? (It's around 4 each in any case)

There are no grand expectations for the Bills or Vikings typically. Two bland teams.

This. But the problem is it seems like cowboys fans want the attention/adoration that comes with being "america's team" but not the scrutiny and expectations that go with it....
