Washington put up a ton of yards on us yesterday and most of it was passing. It seems as though we havev a decent run defense for the most part. Much better run defense than we displayed against the Giants in the opening game.

I think the difference between the Washington game and our prior games were a depleted defensive back corps. Unless we get key players back and they play well, we will probably begin to see a lot of 4 wide personnel.

Anthony Brown has played exceptionally well for a rookie. The problem is that now he is having to play as if he is the #1 CB on the team frequently. That's a lot to ask from a rookie.

We have been really lucky on the injury front. Hopefully we will get a healthy Mo back for the playoff run and Church, Wilcox and Scandrick all get well.

Whoever is coaching up these defensive backs needs a big time raise.

The two biggest problems on the defense is a lack of talent at DE, which isn't going to be fixed this season and the injuries in the secondary, which may.

As long as the offense continues to efficiently score in the redzone and protect the football, the defense only needs to make the opposition earn every point.

Yes. That's true. But what if we have just a single turnover in a game? Just one, and the opponent doesn't have any?

The game could easily look a whole lot different. Out margin for error with this current defense is razor thin. Hopefully we get our DBs back healthy soon. We are putting a lot of pressure on the offense to play perfectly. So far they have delivered, but I think it would be nice to give the offense a little bit larger margin of error.

The offense will eventually make enough mistakes to lose but, considering the expectations at the beginning of the year, I'm grateful for 10-1, regardless of the below average defense.

If we're causing this many problems for our opposition this year, I salivate to think of what might come if we draft an elite DE in 2017. Of course, two would be even better . . . perhaps one via the draft and yet another through veteran free agency -- we'd be a holy terror to our opposition.

On the other hand if we don't resign Mo, we could be even weaker next year.

Is it possible trading Tony could give the Cowboys enough fire power (high picks) to move up in the draft?

I still feel this D is going to keep us from making any kind of playoff run this year. Heck, the D we rolled out there yesterday could likely make us go one-and-done.

After going 4-12 just getting into the playoffs looks good to me.

But really I don't see any team out there that the Cowboys would be an "automatic" loss to in the playoffs.

I completely agree. After last season, I'd be happy just making the playoffs and looking forward to how bright the team's future is.

I don't know that I would trade up. It is always situation specific but we need numbers of players. We are drafting well. We need to keep bringing in significant numbers of very good players to replace those who depart.

Marinelli has obviously forgotten more about football in 20 seconds than I will ever dream of knowing. But man...can we at least TRY to create pressure? The 3-4 man rush ain't cuttin' it. At all. I get the bend but don't break strategy has helped us to 10-1, but I'm looking towards a 1-and-done playoff scenario. If we allow Wilson, Ryan or even Cousins to play with a clean pocket the ENTIRE game in the playoffs, its night-night Cowboys.

The Cowboys would not have 10 wins without Brown. They are incredibly lucky that he has been so good as a rookie.

The pass rush is going to be a big problem at some point. I don't think they even sacked the Washington QB.

Marinelli might as well just rush 2 and drop everybody in coverage on passing downs.

The problem is that when the do bring an extra rusher is does not seem to help. Since they don't focus on blitzing, they are not good at it.

They might as well just rush a couple of DL and replace the others with DBs on passing downs.

Even he can't expect a big payday given his injury history. Dallas should try and lock him in now.
I'd like to see him here, but he simply can't be counted on so only at a very cap friendly deal. We need to somehow find another CB this offseason.

Brown looks like he's gonna be a player, resign Carr as the reliable 2, Scandrick is just ok to me, get another mid starting level CB in FA, and Mo is a bonus since he won't play more than 10 games in all probability.
