Dallas Defense has not blown a 4th Quarter Lead this Year

An interesting blurb I just came across that is INCREDIBLY important. I think we and everyone else knows that this defense has holes, and can be moved around on, and will sometimes make a mistake. But check out this that I just read on football outsiders:

Romo's fifth game-winning drive of 2014 ties him with Stafford for the most in the league this season. Detroit had a great start, but Dallas closed the game on a 24-6 run. This "no-name defense" we ripped apart all summer has yet to blow a fourth-quarter lead. In protecting a one-score lead in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys have allowed 14 points on 13 drives with seven takeaways.

14 points on 13 drives when protecting a one score lead.
14 points on 13 drives when protecting a one score lead.
14 points on 13 drives when protecting a one score lead.
14 points on 13 drives when protecting a one score lead.

I don't know how many times I'll have to repeat that for it to sink in, but you want to talk about something different about this team this year? There you go.

The closest they came to blowing it was letting Philly retake the lead in the game in Philly, but that happened in the 3rd quarter. Then, the offense drove down for a TD and the defense held the rest of the game.

Well if we are talking 3rd quarter then there are a few other games too.

I found Romo's comments after the game about how much confidence he has in our late game defense because of how hard they make it in practice with some of the things that they do. Obviously, there is something to those comments! ;)

It is nice to be expecting a turn over in the 4th quarter.

It seems like our defense settles down in the 2nd half.

We don't look gassed, everyone to the ball. I wonder if we get more pressure in the 4th quarter?

For whatever reason the defense seems to have a lot more energy late in games that they do early on. Looking at things like sacks they seem almost nonexistent for most of the game then late in the game we start getting to the QB.

Rob Ryan took all of those 4th quarter collapses to New Orleans.

Houston. 10 points in 2 minutes.

Yep, that's one of the two times we let the team back into it. The first 3 points put them within 1 score, then the touchdown gave them that. Only happened one other time in the season (not sure when).

With guys like Dez and Oscan barking. They have leaders on the sidelines and on the feild.

I also feel like they now have the confidence to not let a little leaf rattle them.

We blew two 4th-quarter leads, against Houston and NYG. Our offense came back to win both games.
