I predicted 11-5, the first playoff win in 13 years, and a strong run in the playoffs.

I think that's where I was, IIRC...

VERY dissappointed by the Viking game... I was sure we would win...

But a good season overall...

We get the Vikes and Saints next year again...

I predicted 12-4. All the hate before the season and 7-9/8-8 records infuriated me.

I thought Romo would have the year he had.

The running backs didn't have as good of a year as I thought they would.

I thought Austin would win the starting job vs Crayton but not come near the production he ended up giving us.

I didn't think Ware would get 20 sacks, but he got fewer than I thought he would. I thought he'd be DPOY.

Martellus Bennett didn't have near the season I predicted he'd have.

I thought we'd win one playoff game and then be out, although towards the end of the season I was starting to think we'd go to the Super Bowl.

we did 1 of the things i was hoping for, we played strong at the end and finished well.

but we did what i was afraid of, let another slip by and wait for our fans to crown us "next years champs" WOO HOO!!!.

Hopefully after next year we'll be "Next years Champs" again. Maybe we can keep doing that til the Skins win one.

What we need is what we still need from last year going into this year, a GM who can spot talent and get it on the field.

What we need are a few new coaches to replace the ones who stand on the sidelines doing a facepalm.

Also props to Sherman for bringing Austin to a great season, hoping for more but wont brag about him yet.

Also our RB's have got to stop looking behind them, run run hard until someone brings you down.

I thought our offseason was good, and i hope we have another one, but we have to get those guys in the draft, the ones that will produce and produce big.

Spencer had a great season, but he has to match and he has to do it all season long, not come on and play better at the end.

I was hurt by Folk, really wanted him to be that long term deal we wouldnt have to worry about for years.

REally dont care if we get rid of a few coaches, and I am overall happy with Coach D but im not crowning him great yet, fair to middling and thats it. Better than what we were but not what we needed.

I still hate the 3-4 and with more teams going to it i wish we could go back but it would take a year or more so its not worth it.

And i want whatever it takes to get Ware back to form at all costs.

Jenkins shut up the Scandrick following but I think both are good and hoping Jenkins is locked in for years to come.

I was disappointed in Bennett but never believed the TC hype, and loved what Phillips can do, but Phillips can not be 6'7 and that is a big difference. Gotta get Bennett on board this year.

Love our RB corp. Not wanting the idea, but if Choice can start somewhere, id rather he did it, he deserves it and I dont think Dallas can give him that spot, but he has earned it. Hes got everything you want in a young back and the right attitude.

Big fan of Doug Free.

Need to replace Ken Hamlin and I hope our draft from last year comes alive this year besides Beuhler who is working on God status.

And I hope we attack the draft better this year than we did last. I understand why we did it, but we need some home run hitters now that we know where the players stand.

Sometime in August on another website I predicted the Cowboys would got 11-5 with a 2nd round exit.

I'd say I did pretty good though I didn't go into any details about the why or how.

I was in the 9-7 crowd myself, there were just too many questions going into the season. I think we can all agree that the biggest surprise of the season was Miles Austin. Nobody saw that coming, and if they say they did they are lying to you. Nobody knew Austin was going to come off the bench in week 5 and put up probowl numbers week in and week out.

This is what I ultimately believe lifted the team from the 8 or 9 win level to the 11 or 12 win level. The team also played better at the end of the season compared to the beginning for the first time in like forever and we finally won a freaking playoff game.

Now the question will be if we can build on the success of this year or do we fall back into the 9-7 crowd.

I can't remember what I predicted other than they'd make the playoffs and after they began playing so well that they'd win the super bowl.

Going off of memory: My final prediction prior to the season was that they would get vengence against the Eagles in the last game to win the East. But, I think I predicted they would lose their first playoff game so that was kind of a wash as far as good soothsaying goes.

Major wrongs: Dallas would beat Denver handily, would beat Green Bay and would beat the Giants in NY

Major rights: Dallas would lose to the Giants in Dallas, would beat Philly in the final game, would beat Atlanta (a fair amount of folks penciled that in as a loss going into the season). That's about all I can remember

We all saw the media predictions of 8-8. Emmitt Smith said it, and so did several others across the media, and even on this board.

My question is, what did you get right, and what did you get wrong?

Did you think Romo was going to struggle without TO? Did you think Ware would have 24 sacks?

Did you think Austin would get his chance and break out? Did you think Brooking would help transform the defense?

I wrote an article back in May previewing the 2009 season. Looking back on it, I'd say it was fairly accurate. I didnt give Miles Austin enough credit, and thought we would force more turnovers on defense, but said that our offense would rival the 2007 production if we blocked well, and that if we protected the ball, we'd be fine.

I thought we would get more sacks on defense, and that Barber would get better as the main guy at running back, but with Brooking in the middle, and Felix staying healthy, we really didn't need either to be successful.

How about you? What were your predictions that came to be true, or false?

I predicted 11-5 or 12-4 with the hope of making the NFC championship game so my prediction and hopes for last season came up short. I think there were some negitives that I hope can be addressed this off season but there were many positives that took place as well that this team can build on

Things I predicted correctly, and happily so:

11-5 record

At least 1 playoff win

Romo would prove that he was a dang good QB and that it wouldn't be just because of TO. I knew he certainly wouldn't be a more mobile Marc Bulger without those 38 TDs.

Some things I got wrong, unhappily so:

Roy Williams would improve and prove that the trade wasn't a bad idea

Allowing Miles Austin to leave for a 2nd rounder would be something I'd have jumped at cause he had a whopping 18 career catches.

Bennett would improve on his numbers from his rookie year. I really thought he'd get 30-35 catches and maybe 5-7 TDs.

Ware would get at least 18 sacks again this year. I think he honestly might have had he not been so dinged up all through the year. But to get 11, and be in double digits again, was pretty darn good as well.

Before the season, and through the vast majority of it, I had believed 100% that Dallas would have to make, at the very least, a NFC Championship game appearance, and really I believed it would take a Superbowl win, for Wade Phillips to keep his job. Clearly I got that one completely wrong.

If I remember correctly, I thought 10 wins was about right. As for players, I do remember a thread asking what we thought the 5 key players were for the 2009 season. I said that if the following players had good years, the Cowboys would have a shot at the post-season: Austin, Spencer, Sensabaugh, Jones, and Jenkins.

Found the thread. Very interesting stuff. Name your top 5 most important Cowboys this year: http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=157079

I thought they were an 8-8 to 9-7 type of team. With breaks they could do better, worse if things went horribly wrong. I didn't expect them to make the playoffs and if they did somehow make the playoffs they'd lose the first game.
