I'm looking forward to more Gerald Green and less Devean George and Jerry Stackhouse, please, please please. Stick a fork in those guys. It's like playing 4 on 5 when one of them is in.

The Kidd trade is still not winning me over, but I like that they're pushing the ball this year. No stupid, halfcourt iso offense. I think the Mavs are good enough to win 50 games and maybe even a 1st round series this year, but there are a lot of question marks for that to happen. Dirk has to stay healthy, or they're done. Josh Howard needs to stay out of trouble and keep his mouth shut, AND play like he is capable of, or they will not make the playoffs. Kidd needs to turn back the clock. At least one, and maybe two of the young, former 1st rounder castoffs need to step up (Williams/Green/Wright). Wright needs to work out as starting SG. Brandon Bass needs to continue progressing. JJ Barea needs to stay on the bench, and the Mavs need to get a legit backup PG.

That's a lot of needs. They still have talent, and Dirk is still enough of a matchup problem to push them higher than they should go, but there is not much left besides him.

Yes on Stackhouse. He is done. Devean George never had much to begin with imo.

In fact, I pretty much agree with your assesment overall.

It sucks when your team is in decline.

more gerald green, less stackhouse please.

also, half court offense still needs to better. we can't have the offense keep stalling. all our baskets seem to be in transition, then they get tired in the 4th.

that happened almost every game last year and occurred in the rockets game

I'm over them. Dirk is a pansy. He is the only 7 footer in the history of the game who can't play on the block. All he can do in the 4th quarter is shoot that ****ty fade away which promptly clanks off the rim, and guess what with the 7 footer falling away, there's no one to rebound.

pretty much the story of the season.

I think we have to try to trade Dirk or Josh Howard for cap space or picks. it's time to rebuild. franchise has to realize the team will get worse before it gets better. at least we have a first round pick this year.

at least kidd and stackhouse's contracts end this year. can't wait until Damp and Terry are off the books.

I have always stated that to win a championship with Dirk, you would need someone as good as him or better.

I never thought Dirk was mentally tough enough, he can't create his own shot and as someone stated, he doesn't have the ability to make smaller and quicker defenders pay by turning his back to the basket when his jumper isn't falling.

I'm beginning to agree. I think it's time to see what we can get for some of these guys. Some picks and expiring contracts are probably what we'll end up with. That's fine. I'll always take a less talented over-achieving team than a more talented under-achieving team.

we won because stackhouse isnt playing

:laugh2:

No Stack, No George, 3-0!

We won three games we should have won. This sets up a nice stretch of games for the Mavs to make a run to get back to respectability, with 9 of their next 11 at home. Now, they need to start winning at the AAC.

I like what Jason Kidd is giving them, and Howard seems to be more willing to take it to the hoop (just need to keep him healthy). I like what I'm seeing in bunches from Green and Singleton. Bass is starting to come around. Terry is still streaky but is hot right now. I'd like to see Dirk post up more when he has the advantage, rather than resorting to jumpers (ha!).

That's because every team in the Southwest was or is currently struggling. Even the Spurs have battled back.

What's going on with New Orleans? They added Posey and it looks like they've regressed when they should be even better.

5 straight now. Nice 4th quarter finish against the Pacers. Of course now it seems as though the other teams in the Southwest are starting to put together some wins as well.

Good comeback win tonight. They were playing badly through most of the game, but put together another nice run in the 4th quarter (down 15 with 6 or 8 minutes left). This after giving up big 4th quarter runs the first couple of games.

It's only the Clippers, but still. I'll take it. It's nice to be rewarded when I ask myself why I keep watching, down 15 in the 4th quarter to the Clippers at home. It also finally puts them over .500 for the year.
