Dallas needs to cut Ware and Witten next year

Now before everyone starts to go off the deep end, Ware and Witten are my two favorite players on this team. I am really conflicted saying this because those two have been such warriors but both are on the decline. Witten does not have a lot of speed at TE and does not stretch defenses. Dallas spent a 2nd on Escobar who cannot block to save his life, but he does have decent speed and good hands. He could start and if he doesn't will be a wasted pick like Marty B and Fasano. The time to move on is now.

DeMarcus Ware cannot stay healthy. Yeah I know he has only missed 2 games, but he has long stretches where he disappears. I think that has more to do with his fluctuating health than it does his skill level. When healthy, the guy is a top pass rusher. He has not been healthy for a full season in awhile. I am aware that he will most likely go to a 3-4 team and post double digit sacks, but the team has to remain committed to the scheme change.

Lastly Hatcher has priced himself out of Dallas. Some team will pay him crap loads of money next year and it shouldn't be Dallas. This is how Dallas got itself in trouble with Jay Ratliff. You have to know when to pull the cord. Make no mistake about it. Hatcher will go somewhere next year and tear it up, but Dallas needs to clear cap space without the continuous contract restructure dance it has been doing.

Moving on from these 3 players will free up some money. As much as I like those guys, they have not won anything lately as part of the old corps. It is time to move on and start over or 8-8 will be what this franchise has to look forward to. The main reason to cut bait with these player is because Dez and Tyrone will be FA in 2015. We need to clear space to keep both players and they will not come cheap. I appreciate Hatcher, Ware, and Witten but the future lies with Dez, Smith, and Lee. This team has to be built around them.

The problem with letting Hatcher go is it creates a huge hole in the d-line.......not to mention letting ware go also.

If we had a team full of Wittens and Wares would we be 8-8?

Answer that.

I don't think Ware has much play time left in him but he sure as heck doesn't need to be cut. And Witten has plenty of time left, I think.

Why not. we can go 8-8 with or without them

Maybe if our strategy is to lose more games next year.

Sometimes you have to take a step back in 1 year to take 3 steps forward the year after that. Dallas needs to get rid of these big contracts and start building for the future. I would like to know where the cap space to resign young players like Dez, Smith, and Carter is going to come from if Dallas doesn't start to get rid out the old bloated contracts.

Gotta move on from "old" guys at some point, better a year too soon than a year too late, whether that's this offseason or not I'm not really sure.

If we were going to do that, we should have not resigned Romo and set down a path of rebuilding. Signing him meant we're committed to making one last (likely futile) shot with the players we have.

You trade Witten before you cut him. He still has a lot of value.

I heard 8-8 has become the new 13-3 for this franchise. We give victory Mondays for going one game above .500 now (see last week).

Certainly seems that way, hopefully we can find more players like Dez to bring us out of this funk.

Ware and Witten are fine as complimentary players but they will never be leaders on a title team.

I have no problem with blowing it all up... This team to its core is a fraud. I wish Jerry Jones would sell the team but I know that's just wishful thinking sadly!

I'm indifferent on the issue. I am not sure I'm ready to move on from Ware. But Witten is certainly an interesting topic and I've thought about over the last couple of seasons. I think Romo and Garrett want to run the offense thru him and go inside out. I often wonder getting more athletic and trading Witten would be better for bother the offense and Romo.

I know what you are saying...but I will even settle for this...Jerry can keep the team, but him and his blowhard son have nothing to do with the football operations. Including, but not limited to: no drafting, no doing contract, no personnel moves.

Wouldnt that be beautiful?

I would agree with this statement but Dallas can still draft a QB and let him learn on the bench. The one position you cannot win without is a QB. Witten is not going to win a game for you and Ware is going to cost 16 mill next year. He is not worth that salary anymore. It is time to move on.
