Dallas, playoffs, & Troy... doesn't get any better

 Geez we're not even allowed to have an opinion about him as an announcer. Just because you dislike him as an announcer must mean you don't love him as a legend.

My prediction for tomorrow: :D Some of the same people who are saying that the Media is over blowing the Romo Mexican vacation will feel conflicted as Aikman mentions it. :D

Wow.....going out on a limb there aren't ya?

I mean, EVERYBODY has mentioned it, whether they were doing the game or not. Why wouldn't he?

A real Nasatrodomus.

My prediction...Troy will say something bad (yet true) about the Cowboys tomorrow and there will be at least 2 Troy is bias threads. Woohoo! I'm quite a soothsayer.

:) Well he does say some stupid things too. Like teams are going to be lining up to sign Todd Collins next year as a starter :D I also previously said I think he is going to start off the show talking about how bad the cowboys looked in Dec, and then say the Giants are Hot. I think he's predictable

I get Sunday Ticket so I get to see and listen to many play-by-play/analyst teams every Sunday. Buck and Aikman would rank near the bottom of my list for teams. Stockton and Johnston are a far superior team and, unlike Buck and Aikman, enhance my enjoyment of the game.
I would have Madden and Michaels at the top. Stockton, Johnston and Moose are also good. I think Troy is a fine color guy, but Buck is very irritating.

Regarding the original post, I think that Troy calls these games right down the middle. Buck, on the other hand... he's a hater. ;)

So you bring up actual football current events, and predict he's going touch on them. Wow, you're so livin' on the edge.

I'll bet he even talks about the Packers too. And TO's ankle.

If Giants fans think that Aikman will be tilted towards the Cowboys, then they obviously haven't listened to Aikman call Cowboys games.

I guarantee that in tomorrow's game that there will be a call that goes against the Giants that Aikman will act like is the worst call of all time and the Cowboys got incredibly lucky. I also guarantee that a very obvious call will go against Dallas and Aikman will act like it was a great call, the perfect call, and how well the refs are doing. On top of that, Dallas will get a penalty like a false start and Aikman will go on to talk about how undisciplined the Cowboys are and how it's going to lead to their destruction.

Listening to Aikman's dire attempts to prove that he's not a Cowboys homer is easily one of the top 10 most aggravating things for me when it comes to the NFL.

YAKUZA

I got your back on this one.

Aikman and Buck are good but neither deserves to be in the same sentence as Summerall.

Still a big Aikman fan as a player but not as an announcer. I think he's critical of the Cowboys just like he was as a player. Just a thought. Still annoying.

Not me. It's stupid no matter who says and for Aikman, quite typical when Dallas is on.

YAKUZA
has yet to find Troy as a "good announcer" regardless of the game he's announcing, but his Cowboys games are ridiculous.

Wow, you can try to belittle someone with word "wow"... :D The funny thing is, you post a thread that obviously is going to start a debate, because of the title, especially since there are a lot of people who don't think Troy is a good announcer, and then get all up on them for expressing their differing opinion.

Also, quote me in your sig, probably trying to use it somewhat out of context, and then you bring up things I've previously addressed in that other thread. For instance, last time I said it was alright for an announcer to state his opinion, but I thought troy was annoying because he was beating it to death, that people got his point. I also differentiated that from a debate, where like in this case, you have to bring things up again. Also, way to attack the arguer and not the argument by saying things like "way to live on the edge," instead of addressing why saying that Todd Collins having a lot of teams after him for a starting quarterback isn't a stupid statement. Yeah start a debate and then try to put down everyone with an opposing view point down. Maybe I should just agree to disagree with you.

AS usual...you've taken the original topic at hand, and used it to convey your never ending disdain for Troy Aikman. When you stray from the original premise, and hang your hat on predictable predictions, you should expect some back lash.

And since you missed it(and obviously as have others), the original point was that while some Cowboy fans find Troy to be bias AGAINST the Cowboys, there are Giant fans that consider him bias FOR the Cowboys, prompting the auther to point out that that's what shows an announcer is playing it down the middle.

It wasn't as to whether someone likes him or not...but as usual, you took the opportunity to once again utter your hate.

An opposing view would be that of 'no, he doesn't play it down the middle'. Not, 'he says stupid things and I can predict them'.

Try staying on topic...

Or that an announcer is playing the extremes to where both teams feel picked apart at times, which I think is part of the issue with Aikman.

Just my opinion...

I think it is hilarious that Dallas fans think Troy is a hater and then fans of the other teams all think he is a Dallas homer.

Troy must indeed be doing something right.

"As usual," :laugh1:as if there somehow is a big sample of my posts to justify such s claim. I haven't been on this message board long enough to warrant an "as usual" yet. As for my response to the thread, I think it was more based on the title "Dallas, playoffs, & Troy... doesn't get any better," where I was just stating my opinion that Troy announcing would be a detraction. Of course, my opinion has to be labeled as automatic hate by someone to make my opinion seem to carry less weight. People seem to have a right to criticize Howie Long, or Terry Bradshaw, but somehow Aikman is suppose to be off limits, and anyone who dares must be a Hater whose opinion shouldn't matter, because they are dumb. You're the one who started a thread that would cause debate due to the title.

Then you point to how the article says that both Cowboys fans and Giants fans say that Aikman is bias, and that is supposed to somehow be proof that the Cowboys fans that think so are off their rockers. This argument has its obvious flaw, in that it neglects the possibility that Giants fans say one thing because Aikman was a player for a divisional rival, even if he might be favoring them. It really doesn't do an in depth analysis of what was said negatively for each team and how many times. It is a rather a shallow argument in my opinion.

My only problem with Aikman, and it's a big annoyance to me, is that he goes on and on and on and on about the same player long after the play ends. There are many times during the game that he's still talking about a player that hasn't even been on the field in several plays even though other players have made great plays since then.

I also agree that he tends to focus more on offense than anything. Most of the time he's going on and on about a player, it's an offensive player and by talking non-stop, he basically removes any chance to comment on great defensive plays.

There have been many plays where he's still talking about a great throw or run by a player on first down even when second and third downs yielded no gain or losses and the punt team is on the field.

I do believe he tries his best to be objective but he focuses so much on one player for so long, I can easily see why each side thinks he favors the other side.

I also totally agree that the best announcers are the ones who talk the least and provide more factual information rather than opinions. That is exactly the kind of announcers I want covering big games.

Clinton Portis comes to mind.

So you're 'debating' the title, but not the content.

Now that's shallow.

Your book reports and movie reviews surely are must reads.
