If Gurley and Gordon are gone or Dallas finds one of the top defensive players they are hoping to get then I would take Tevin Coleman in the 2nd. Out of all the backs in this draft he is the most complete. He was 2nd in the nation in rushing, very good blocker in the back field and good receiver out of the back field.

I'm in love with this guy. Love his acceleration in the crease, balance and nose for goal line. He has an extra gear in the open field and the bigger key imo is his blocking ability.
Would love to snag him as a starting RB if AP falls out which is evidently likely.

I would just as soon put the AP stuff to rest, I would rather have a young man back there for a while than AP short term. Now I will say if AP is released and wants to go to Dallas on a cap friendly deal then fine outside of that I would much rather Dallas stay away from older players on big deals.

As for Coleman what I'm looking at is who is the most complete RB, not who is the fastest. I want a guy who is a 3 down back and who can help keep Romo upright as teams bring the blitz.

I think we can find some quality guys later in the draft.

Duke Johnson
Jeremy Langford
Mike Davis
David Johnson
Javorius Allen
TJ Yeldon

One of those guys are bound to slip into the 4/5th round. It happens every year. You add a Mike Davis to rotate in with Williams/Randle/McFadden and I think we'd be OK considering the line we have.

The Cowboys will depend on versatility, flexibility and competition. The players that produce will get the carries and their receiving abilities will be just as important..

The Cowboys will not put all their eggs in one basket, they will not depend on the performance of a single RB that is high paid, otherwise they would have kept Murray, Peterson is not a productive receiver and Garrett likes 5 quality options on passing plays all the time.

They will not put pay for a star RB, they will spread the money around, in an attempt to create quality depth and a mixture of talents and strengths.

Prediction:

The cowboys will receive quality production in the running game by a rookie free agent.

This story makes me like the possibility even more:

Tevin Coleman rushed for 2,036 yards last season, the second-highest total in the nation. Only a handful of people knew that the last 1,200 of them hurt like hell.

Coleman ran with a broken sesamoid bone in his right foot for Indiana's final seven games. He kept running through the mounting pain. He kept running as his quarterbacks and backup running backs were sidelined by their own injuries, leaving him to carry the Hoosiers offense on his shoulders. He ran through a series of ever-more-frustrating close losses to B1G Conference powerhouses. He saved his best, most astonishing performances for last, when surgery was inevitable and the Hoosiers' season was a lost cause.
