Dallas should learn from Ravens on QB negotiation

The Ravens' front office understands that they can win super bowls with a mediocre QB if you have a stud defense. They went the wrong way with Flacco and have learned from their mistake.

I’d take LJ over Dak any day of the week. Dude threw 36 TDs in his second year, while Dak was flailing around and it took year 6 for Dak to even get anywhere close to that and it’s required a lot of stat-padding against bottom-dwellers and third stringers in the last game of the season.

Much quicker release and stronger arm and lighter on his feet. Way more agile.
I watch the Ravens all the time, Lamar Jackson is the real deal. His supporting cast outside his TE is trash. He won the MVP with a semi-retired Mark Ingram as the starting RB.

This. Lamar was the team. The ravens don't give him any help on offense other than TE's lol.

Yeah, I don’t know what people are taking about. The ceiling for Jackson is WAY HIGHER than Dak’s, it’s not even close. The Titans defense he lost too in the play-offs was lights out.

There is nothing tangible in Dak that you can say, man this guy has to be great. LJ has the physical assets that set him apart. Based on what I’ve seen, He can throw from the pocket and fling the ball downfield with a flick of a wrist. If he can work on throwing outside the numbers, which is correctable based on his skill set, and has a cast like Dak has had with a guy like Moore, there is no telling what he can achieve.

All you gotta know is that Lamar was throwing the football to DeSean Jackson last year. That was his WR1... And people in Dallas whining because Dak doesn't have 3 #1 receivers to throw to.

Romo’s deal was nothing like Dak’s. He was the highest paid in FRANCHISE history, not the NFL.

The FO came to him to negotiate early to CREATE CAP SPACE, which he agreed too. If anything, Romo was under zero obligation to re-sign and held every card, could have played out his last year, forced a franchise tag and could have milked Jerry for a hell of a lot more.

Romo’s contract even with the last year remaining on his then contract, meaning 7 years, was still less than Flacco’s just awarded 6 year contract of over 120 million. Romo’s 6 year was around 108 million. The only difference is Romo got more guaranteed money at 55 million to 52 million for Flacco.

Jerry also gave Romo more responsibilities with his contract, including more influence on game-planning and personnel decisions, meaning more days in the office.
