Fish saying cowboys doing their due diligence on this conley story and if hes there at 28 he wouldnt be shocked if conley is the pick. fish also said that within the last couple of hours cowboys have cooled on TJ Watt, still like him but are wondering if he is a natural pass rusher.
so fine with Watt until a couple of hours ago...hmm....don't think so. football ability is decided on well before today, medical/off field takes the stage now, which would lead to teams cooling on players. we shall see. i don't think Watt is there at 28.

could be a smoke screen, i guess its always been their kind of gut feeling with watt because hes just swtiched to Defense a couple years ago, but its becoming more of a overthinking situation now that its close. fish said he thinks they are overthinking it and should just go with their 18 months of research on him.

I do not think Conley will drop like Collins did a couple years ago. A lot of teams still kicking themselves for not taking Collins in the late round.
Are they? What has he done other than a couple highlight pancake blocks?

Statements such as this (bolded) always baffle me. What could possibly have transpired in the last couple of hours that would make the team cool off on that player, or any other, for that matter? I simply can't fathom that their evaluation of him has changed one iota from what it has been.

I am sleeping on it because it will be big problem if Dallas doesn't go DE at 28. CB depth goes all the way into 5th round. DE depth does not.
I'm not saying you're right or wrong... I'm just saying be prepared to be disappointed because IMO CB is a very real possibility at 28.

This strikes me as a smokescreen. If they were really focused on a guy like McDowell they would run out a smoke screen just like this.

Right now I'm thinking they wait to see if someone drops to them and if not, they trade down 5 - 10 spots.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I still do not see how McDowell would be an effective smokescreen.

He is really his own unique prospect. He is not a true edge player that could fit every style of defense (i.e. play OLB) and he has personality hurdles to deal with. I see their interest as legitimate, not diversion.

Define couple? Dude has the potential to be a stud OL. He is fast, strong and agile. What OL coach or team for that matter would not want that upside?

I think it's 60/40 DE. If Garrett, Thomas, Allen, Barnett, Watt, Harris, Tak are off the board then it's Taco, McDowell vs CB. I think they go CB.

Conley is the smokescreen not McDowell.

could be that its not that its changed, could be they always deep down had that as their concern with him and the media is finally getting a hold of it. could also be a smoke screen

That's kind of how I see it, minus Watt. I'm not sure they'd take him at 28.

So, I think it is either Barnett, Harris and maybe Tak (not 100% sure about him either) or CB.
