Morris has looked good, they just need to give him plenty of carries.
Mix in some Smith, and mcf.
Morris has the longest td run for the year on just a few carries.
Dallas just needs to stay balanced, don't start passing too much.
I think Morris is dying to play
and show what he can do.
Same for McF, and Smith.

As others have said, the real problem is 3rd (and 4th) and 1. This offense is predicated upon getting to 3rd and short and converting. Elliott can get hit at the line of scrimmage and still grind out that yard. Can Morris? Can DMC?

I also worry about fumbles with DMC. The last time he was our starter, he had as many fumbles as TDs.

Other aspects of the running game should be fine.

Now that DMC is active, I hope he is running back kickoffs and not Switzer.

Switzer won’t be, but he really should be inactive. He has been useless for weeks now.

DMC is not a fumbler. It's actually one of the great things about him Ball Security. Yes he had 3 TDs and 3 fumbles last time he was starter. But that's just bad in the TD department. That year he AVG a lost fumble every 79 carries. Last season Zeke avg 64 carries per fumble. If you're worried about DMCs ball security you must be scared to death about Zekes.

Only one way to find out and that is to hand him the ball and see. They need to keep the same philosophy whatever they did with Elliot just do it with Morris and it should work out, don't get discouraged, and change.

He fumbled in his last game as a starter (in 2015), and he fumbled again this preseason. But I hope you’re right.

He has fumbled 17 times in 10 years. in 2015 on 239 attempts he had only 3 fumbles. From 2011 to 2014 he has 1 fumble each year. Mcfadden has no fumble issues.

Conversion rate
3rd or 4th down, 1-2 yards to go
Morris
--(pre-Dallas) 23 of 34 (67.6%)
--(with Dallas) 2 of 3 (66.7%)
McFadden
--(pre-Dallas) 14 of 30 (46.7%)
--(with Dallas) 15 of 19 (78.9%)

2014 Murray 19 of 26 (73.1%)
2016-17 Elliott 25 of 33 (75.8%)

I agree that the run game won't be a problem. Even without Zeke, we have a respectable running game. We'll be fine. If we lose this game, it won't be because our running game held us back.

My biggest concern going forward is Linehan and Garrett hitting the panic button too soon and abandoning the running game if they get behind. We've seen it happen many times before. Hopefully, a three pronged rushing attack will keep them out of those predicaments. And let's hope the coaching staff adapts quickly during the course of a game as to what running back combination(s) give us the best chance to win. I have a feeling that the Morris/Smith tandem will be the one.

Hang on for the ride boys.

Switzer shouldn't be returning kicks but I still want to see him at PR. Give him some time there and I think he eventually breaks one, though I'm probably in the minority saying that given that everyone hates his guts around here.

We'll beat Atlanta. We are a better team. I am worried about Philly. I think we are a bit overmatched in that game other than that we should make the playoffs.

If anything, a loss in this game will be because we decide to pass more and could not handle the shift in identity. That is what concerns me the most.

The Falcons have not been very strong defending the run and have given up big games against teams who really don't have great running attacks like NE and Miami.

Everyone do your job. Next man up, RBs. We are on a mission... SB or bust. We got this. Go Cowboys!!! :flagwave:

Key is to keep in 2nd and 3rd down in short yardage situations. Get those 5 or 6 yards on 1st downs. Then it keeps the playbook more open for Dak.
Defense will need to step up also. Keep showing that improvement. And make some game changing plays for us, not against us.

Morris will get the start. But I believe McFadden may soon take over . no reasoning, just my thoughts. I hope rod Smith gets his chances as well. This time we are better prepared for a RB by Committee than we were when we lost Murray to FA and Romo and Dez to injuries.

Eli Manning has more TD's than Matty Ice.

If Cowboys stop Devonte Freeman like they did last week to Hunt, they will win.

Both defenses are eerily even. #10th and 11th overall.

Book worthy. The last thing I want the team to do is approach this with the mentality of, "Zeke is out and now it's all on Dak's shoulders." We've got some good backup RBs. The backup situation for Zeke is way better than any backup situation Emmitt Smith ever had. Smith was backed up by RBs like Curvin Richards, Lincoln Coleman, and Hambrick (forget his first name). Morris and McFadden are starting quality or near starting quality running backs, and Smith is showing good promise too. This team should still be able to run.
