Dallas works out DT Rodrique Wright

Brace yourself for a stampede of Longhorn love.

Why not, you were mighty quick to take the first cheap shot... however, the truth is that most Horns fans were disappointed in Wright, they expected more out of him after the way he played early in his career...

I'd say that "Longhorn love" makes a lot more sense than "Longhorn hate", given their on-field success in recent years... are there ANY Horns players that you've liked over the last couple-three years, or are you just one of those witless Haters?? Would you prefer that we never discuss any of their players??

They better not take this guy at the #18 spot. He may last until the third round, if so then I take a shot at him. He has to play NT though. We already have enough DE's that are better than him.

Nobody's talking about him as a first rounder... second or third round, sure; first round, no...

As for this supposed glut of talented DEs, I count Ellis, Canty, Spears and... and... well, that's about it... for sure, I think that Wright could give a team what a Jay Ratliff offers, minimum... so I could justify the Cowboys upgrading their depth at DE with somebody like Wright, or a bit later in the draft, Jason Hatcher from Grambling...

It looks like BILL may be looking for insurance incase FERGY wets the bed!!!

This kid is a stone cold stiff. I watched five Longhorn games last year and his name was seldom called. Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. Avoid.

I think in the 2nd or 3rd. He was double teamed the whole season, and he won't see that in the NFL with Ferggy getting that consideration, so he might excel if he came to Dallas and had Parcell barking at his ***.

Give me one of those University of Tennesee interior D-lineman because they always seem to play well in the NFL!!!!!

Lighten up, Francis.

Look at DallasCowpoke's response to my joke.

Then look at yours.

You need to chill out man and quit ripping on people for no reason.

Unless you had a plan to trade Greg Ellis I wouldn't understand the move to draft Wright. He's likely to be picked close to our pick in the 3rd based on potential alone and at 80 I'd be ok with him value wise. I like Ellis and personally I think he's going nowhere so I guess I don't get the Wright interest. I'd kinda like to see what Ratliff has as a backup to Spears, and the Canty/Ellis rotation is solid to me. Wright seems like a good fit for 3-4 DE but NT? Not so much. Any earlier than round 3 makes a lot less sense.

it's the COwboys examining all their options, they have a list of 150 or so players that they're targeting, and since WRight could fit our needs on D, then they're definitely going to be looking at him, and he's a great talent too

I guess if Dallas drafts Wright they can switch back to the 4-3 because they will have loads of defensive lineman and a shortage of linebackers.

I've watched Rodrique Wright play several times both on TV and at Memorial Stadium in Austin. He was dominant as a freshman but injuries have kept him below that level since. But, he's still a good prospect for the later rounds of the draft. But Dallas, rarely takes UT players so I doubt Wright ends up in Dallas.

I watched the guy in the National Championship Game, and he was often slow and a step late.

I wouldn't pick him until the fourth round, assuming we get a fourth round pick back.

I'm a longhorn fan, but no thanks.

That's too high to get an undersized backup...

Good size for sure......

NOT good size at all,....too tall and too light.

I was a big Rod Wright fan until this past season, he was quite lame. He had a better jr year IMO. I don't know how the stats stack up but he was unnoticeable this past year and impacting the year before.

Not sure why we would want a 4-3 DT to play a 3-4 NT. Someone like Fifita fits our defense much better IMO, plus you could get him on day 2 whereas Wright will go day 1.
Doesn't make a lot of sense to me for us to really be considering this guy. Watson or Ngata are much better fits if we were going to use a day 1 DT. They are bigger and better at plugging the NT position in a 3-4.
