Damien Woody...

Not really all that interested. But I definitely think we need someone that can do a better job than Rivera. I would love a younger guy, with experience, superior talent, for not a lot of money. I don't know if it's Woody, but it could be.

Like I said earlier, too, I wouldn't mind taking a peak at Pettigout. Maybe then we could slide Colombo down to RG. As far as I know Pettigout is about as solid as you can get without some ofthe warts. I would definitely give the guy alook atleast.

I wouldn't be interested in him even as a backup OG/OC.

That fat/lazy tag has been on him since the day he arrived in Detroit.

The reason Kosier is here is because of a GM ego move by Matt Millen.

Kosier followed Mariucci to Detroit.

Millen not knowing what he had spent real money on Woody and Demulling.

Tried to prove himself right by letting Kosier walk and keeping Woody/Demulling.

How'd that turn out?

Now he can't wait to get rid of em.

29 is really pretty young for an OL IMO. I think he could be valuable. Could fill in at a very needed position at Guard or allow for Gurode to be moved to Guard. With both Gurode and Woody on the roster, that would really be valuable from the stand point of having two guys who could play Center or Guard at a high level if injured.

No chance we go anywhere near Woody.

The days of the Cowboys drooling over fat, lazy slobs are over.

Marinelli is trying to fix the attitude of his team and he's clearing out the fat, lazy, poor work ethic guys.

Mike Williams, Woody, and the scrub DT who was allowed to seek a trade.

Ya'll are seriously interested in a guy who can't play for the team with the worst o-line in football because he hasn't been able to get in shape?

I'm wondering the same thing

have any of these boneheads actually watched him play the past few yrs?

This remains to be seen. Woody is a talented player. As for him being lazy, well, I would not put too much faith in what the Detroit Lions organization says abougt any NFL player or coach. JMO.

What about BB and Pioli?

We kinda know what they think of Woody.

You think Mike Williams (WR) is lazy?

$500k in fines for missing and being late to meetings and being overweight. kind of supports that

What do I think of Belichicklet and Polian? I think they are two of the best in the business. I also think that the owner doesn't like to pay anybody. You actually want to go down the list of good players they have let walk for one reason or another? Everybody knows that the pats don't pay for play. Everybody also knows that once the Pats let ou go, there's always a reason for it, other then money, which is always the real reason.

I think it's they don't over pay for play.

If they view you as a good but not great player they're not going to pay you like you're the difference maker.

Average WR's who look great because of the system and Brady......feel free to take the Skin's and Titan's money.

Old LB's and CB's on the end of their careers....buh bye.

I've been hearing that Woody is a fat, lazy, slug for over 2 years.

This is not new news.

After a couple good years in NE he morphed into the Jonathan Sullivan of OG's.

On top of that he's a head case off the field.

Would be a total old Jerry and Lacewell signing.

Bring back Willie Blade while we're at it.

If he were to get released then that automatically means he sucks and I don't want him. After all, if he's so good then why did he get cut?

/end MickeySpagnola moronic logic

Seriously, He's solid, but it does raise a few eyebrows as to why a sorry team like the Lions would release a "Good" player. From what I've read/heard, Woody is lazy. I'd much rather have Dielman or Steinbach.

The best thing about Woody is that he can play center too... of course, so can Kendyl Jacox, who would undoubtedly come a lot cheaper... and as you and others have noted, there are better options out there at OG-- Dielman, Steinbach, Leonard Davis...

All that said, IF the price is right, Woody would provide quality depth all across the interior of the offensive line... I'd like him in that role, but would be less excited by the thought of him starting 16 games for the Boys at guard...

First off, I just have to laugh at whoever suggested Columbo to RG.

Secondly, all said bout Woody's laziness is true. That said, he also has some talent for a guard position. If we can get him fairly cheap on an incentive-laden contract and then draft a guy like Blalock, Grubbs, etc. then we would be in decent shape.

Maybe the young guy would light a fired under Woody's butt so he would play hard enough to keep his spot or at least to make those incentives. The young guy would play his butt off to get some playing time over the lazy dude.

If Woody agrees to that type of contract, the combination of him and a young draftee might be cheaper than a Dielman or Steinbach signing.

I would love Dielman or Steinbach, but it just seems like every offseason these premiere guys are asking for more and more money. We might be stuck settling for a guy thats more of a bargain buy. We still need to draft young OL ,too and who knows maybe some of these younger guys will step up. (Whitley, Proctor)

And most of the time, you get what you pay for.

1. Woody is lazy. There's no reason to believe he'll all of the sudden NOT be lazy.

2. A draftee is no guarantee. Far from it. Jacob Rogers and Stephen Peterman are proof of that.

3. I'd rather pay for a YOUNG PROVEN PLAYER then be cheap and sign one hopeful and draft another. Besides we don't need another drafted guard. We have youth at the backup spots already. We need a STARTER, not some lazy POS and a draft pick. Dielman or Steinbach would be with us throughout their contract cuz their both young. And their both ALREADY good guards. We gambled on Rivera instead of going after a YOUNG guard like Wahle. We need to do the right thing this time and pay the money to the YOUNG proven player.

How about we get a coach that knows how to teach an offensive lineman?

Maybe we have one already? Maybe we had a pretty decent offensive line last year except for one guy who appears to be past his prime..
