Nelson might not be on the board at 22, 2 safeties went before our pick at #18 last year, and Landry and Nelson are better prospects than both

since it was a 1 year deal, we might, but with 5 safties already on the team, i think we'll be looking at CB or WR IMO.

I'm afraid so. Now, with Hamlin signed, we have bigger needs than safety.

Go back and see how many S's they've taken in the first since 1961.

I agree in that I really hope we don't pick up Reggie Nelson.

i dissagree Huff is a hell of a safety, but he gets the shaft because he is in Oakland

yikes, I forgot about him, then that was 3 Safeties taken before our pick at 18, but the point remains, Landry and Nelson probably won't be at our pick at 22

man
i really think nelson would be a perfect fit in dallas.
check out his scouting report (as per www.nfldraftcountdown.com)

Height: 5-113/8 | Weight: 198 | 40-Time: 4.48

Official Bio

Strengths:
An outstanding natural athlete...Good speed and quickness with terrific range...A ballhawk and impact playmaker in the secondary...Is very instinctive...Aggressive, physical and a big hitter who plays much bigger than he is...Is more than willing to come up and help support the run...Versatile and may be able to play multiple positions...Very productive and has a knack for being around the action...Upside.

Weaknesses:
Has less than 11/2 seasons of Division I starting experience...Size is only average and he does not have the ideal bulk that you would prefer...Intelligence is a huge issue and he was not known to be a very good student...Not a great tackler and is often times more worried about delivering a knockout blow than he is wrapping up...He can be physically overmatched in-the-box...Has some durability concerns.

he's really fast and has good covering skills
his weakness is r. williams stregnths....
i think him and roy will make a great duo.

i kinda hope that he's gone by the time dallas gets to pick...cause if he's up there and we dont pick him up... ill be :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Like I've been saying...
we're not drafting a DB in round 1.

That concerns me. This guy seems like Keith Davis from a bigger school.

What about right corner?

Our Pass Defense was ranked #24 last season. Do you really think signing Hamlin to a 1 year deal is going to fix that?

We've got huge problems at right corner [Henry] and nickel back [A Glenn]

A word to the "Wise".......Beware of expressing absolutes. Jerry Jones also stated that we would probably address the S problem from within house.

I tend to agree with picking a wr or cb. Although neither is a position of dire need, they are probably the only areas left that could be addressed. I'm a big proponent for Robert Meacham or Sydney Rice for Wide receiver but as for CB's noone jumps out at me. Any ideas anyone?

My opinions are:

1. We have no more need for a CB or a WR than we have a need for a RG.

2. Nelson is a superior athlete and if he fell to us and was the BPA, then I'd draft him and not worry about it.

3. I suspect that Nelson will be gone by pick 14. My draft program has Landry going to Atlanta at pick 8 and Nelson to the Panthers at 14. He's too good to last much longer. Only if Landry falls will Nelson fall.

David.

I don't think that Hamlin "solves" our safety issue. I'm not sure he's an upgrade over Watkins or Davis.

Now, if he returns to his 2005 form, then yes.

If anything, I think this signing allows us to do what I think the better teams in the NFL do with the draft.

Draft the best available player.

If that's Nelson.....then we draft him.
If the BPA is Meahem, then draft him.
If the BPA is Houston, then draft him.....
