Dan Quinn on Brian Schottenheimer

All these hate responses. Can’t these cute hate posts stop. And take these respected coaches comments at face value to be a positive thing. Without creating negativity.
I am a wait and see guy, I’m glad he’s not a retread, no one knows what he’s going to be until a season or two down the road. Maybe he’s a great hire only time will tell give us the answer

In all seriousness it was obvious when he was DC here and in Wash the players are ecstatic about him as HC , Quinn overall is a decent man.

Commanders coach Dan Quinn worked with new Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer in New York (2007-2008) and Dallas (2022-2023). Quinn said when they were with the Jets that he saw how “excellent” Schottenheimer was. “I knew then that he had rare things about him.”

Quinn said Schottenheimer helped him “a lot” in his role as a coaching analyst in 2022 in Dallas.

“He’s gonna do a fantastic job. He has high-level coaching and high-level relatability. When you put those two things together, that’s a really rare combination. And he’s got them both.”

I’m so pumped about this endorsement I’m running around my house with my Prescott jersey screaming “HERE WE GO!!!!!!!”

I wonder why Quinn never gave such a good coach a job on one of his staffs?
Didn't Quinn have Kyle Shanahan as an offensive coordinator on his staff when he was the HC of the Atlanta Falcons?

Kyle Shanahan has coached the 49ers to Superbowl status, so isn't he considered a "good coach" that came from Quinn's staff?

Coaches never know when they are going to be unemployed. As such they are loathe to bad mouth other coaches. You never know who you are going to bump into during the hiring process down the road.
This.

Even if he thinks Schottenheimer is an awful coach, would it be smart as the representative of a billion dollar organization, yourself being paid millions of dollars to take much of the heat, say so?

Unless he's been holding back on McCarthy I just don't see things changing much. Sure the plan may be to run the ball more but that's what every team wants to do. The only thing that would really help is if he has a zone blocking scheme like Kyle Shanahan than maybe that will help the run game. There really is no disguising plays with Dak taking forever to go through his reads.

Oh wow.

Well it must be true then. It's not like coaches would just say nice things in front of a camera just to avoid starting drama.

If he sucked.... I'm sure Quinn would have totally obliterated him to the reporter.

This definitely carries a lot of weight, and has great meaning

Of course you talk up your opponents before you beat them badly. Makes you look even better to have beaten a team that is led by a great coach. If he is so great why did our offense stink so bad?

I understand that. But I just find it ridiculous fans take a positive and always turn it into a negative. Then repeat the same thing 20 times as in every other thread.

Whatever, it is just is tiring. Repetitive. They need new material.
We need another stupid quote for Jerry and Stephen. Not good comments about our new HC.
I get where you're coming from, but I think its more about not buying into the easy offseason talk instead of truly being negative. I get there are some truly negative posts doing exactly what you're saying but it seems to be in the minority or its of the tongue in cheek variety.

I think a lot of Cowboy fans are simply tired of blindly buying in. The Jerry/Stephen way of doing things has ran its course and fans want to see some action before being positive about trivial matters such as the DQ quotes. I want nothing more than to see Shotty succeed, but give us more than smoke before we rally behind the guy. Actually spending some cash this offseason in FA and bringing in a couple even 2nd wave guys would be massive to do that. I just cant blame cowboy fans for being hesitant and sarcastic until we get some evidence that suggests Schotty will be more than just a guy reshuffling deck chairs.

Nobody is taking a positive and turning it into a negative. They're taking a Nothing and pointing out that it's meaningless. Meaningless isn't bad....it's just nothing

See every Bill Bellicheat or Andy Reid quote they've ever given in front of a camera for the last 25 years. They give you meaningless bland quotes, because they don't want you to know what they're really thinking, good or bad. Smart. Quinn was smart. Now Quinn can go on with his day and not have to worry about having said the wrong thing. Nice and Bland and positive and meaningless fluff
