Hopefully, we don't see him twice a year with the Eagles.
God…. Please no.

I think Detroit takes him at 6 unless Carter is there and they just can’t pass it up.

Even if he gets by Detroit I think he will have trouble making it to 10. Teams love Witherspoon.

I have heard there are off the field character concerns, this could be the reason why he isn't too high on his board.
Rumors are he has Kelvin Joseph type concerns. I bet the Cowboys will stay clear of Smith.

It makes me very upset that there is zero percent chance he ends up in Dallas. Very few prospects at any position make me feel like he’s a sure superstar… Spoon is a sure superstar.

You better pray he does not fall to the Eagles. Geez they are going to either get Carter, Witherspoon, Wilson or Robinson. Thanks New Orleans.

Just a possibility as you know the Eagles like Trenches, skilled players.

I’d much rather they get one of those other guys than Witherspoon. Just not Spoon!

Watch this video from 42:50 to about 50:00 or so. These PFF guys feel similarly as I do about Witherspoon. The first thing Trevor Sikkema says about Spoon is that he is one of his favorite corners that he has ever evaluated. It is about an 8 minute watch or so… but it will tell you what you need to know about Witherspoon.

These guys are good evaluators too. I always value their opinions.

I have not heard that… that is good to know. It really will hurt him, particularly in such a great CB class.
You always have to take these reports with a grain of salt. You don’t what’s factual or who is lying to make a player slide lol

Three weeks away from the draft I think it is between McDonald, Forbes, Johnston, Flowers, Robinson, and Avila for the pick based off of 30 visits and insider rumors. I am leaving anyone out?

Depends on who falls.

Personally, I think there is a good chance that Nolan Smith ends up going to Philly at pick 10. He has all the hallmarks of a Howie first round pick:

  • Big SEC school player (Howie missed on like a decades worth of first round picks before starting to take big SEC Players in the first). He’s had success… I think he’ll continue.
  • Smith blew up the combine. Howie loves that and the positive attention he gets for getting those guys. He way overdrafted Davis last year (a part time player) for those two reasons. Unfortunately, Smith is a really good player and will be worth the pick IMO.
  • Howie loves it when people say he drafts in the trenches… Smith is a DE and will continue that.
We will see, but I think there is a real good chance that Smith is an Eagle.

I think Smith is likely an Eagle too. If not, one of the top CBs.

I actually think they’d prefer Gonzalez to Witherspoon as they play a lot of zone and he fits the 6’0+ / 32+ inch arm mold they trotted out last year.

I was listening to Todd McShay a couple of days ago in a mock draft video and he finally gave a little insight into why Carter might be sliding some.

He said that 7 teams have told him that Carter:
  • Is not a great practice player.
  • Is known for talking back to the coaches or not listening.
  • Doesn’t have great study habits.
He said that he still thinks that Carter will go top 10 because he is so talented… but there are legitimate concerns there.

Couple this info with him not caring enough about his pro day to get in shape and come in at a good weight… and it is easy to see why a team might hesitate to use a top 5 pick on the guy. He definitely wouldn’t be the first Uber-talented guy to bust because of his mental game.

I hope so. IMO, anyone taking Gonzales over Witherspoon would be crazy… but what do I know.

Witherspoon has Dan Campbell written all over his tape. His attitude and play style is exactly what Campbell wants on that team. I can’t imagine Detroit passing on Spoon unless Carter is there and they just love him.

I read something not too long ago where there has been an incredibly low number of CBs at / below his weight that have been 1st round CBs. He’s a stud and will go in the 1st but history tells me I shouldn’t be surprised if he slides.

We will see. You could be right. With the draft, just when you think one way… someone does it another.

Detroit is starting to build something. Can you imagine them walking away with Carter and the Spoon.

I think both guys are probably going top 10… so Detroit would have to make a move to get their other pick up into that area. But yeah, if they got those two and Carter’s head is on straight, that would help their defense big time.

Big time.

I know the visits indicate taking a CB high, but will be interesting roster wise if they actually do. Diggs-Gilmore-Bland-Hooker, Wilson, Kearse, Mukuamu, Lewis, Wright, Joseph, Bell, Goodwin. Even if Lewis is a June 1st cut, that’s still 11 guys you would assume to make the roster…which is the likely max that will be on the active roster for DB.
So are they looking to move on from 1 of Joseph or Wright after 2 years? Seems like the only way a rookie DB makes the roster.

Forbes actually reminds me of Witherspoon, who is my favorite player in this whole draft. Both Forbes and Spoon play the CB position very naturally. Their instincts are great and both of them just harass the hell out of receivers.

Sauce is a pretty good comparison because both are such natural corners.

Forbes really plays the ball well and is a pure ball hawk. It is all about the ball at CB/WR and he is always finding it and keeping it away from the receiver one way or another. He is just a really good football player.

So many corners are just athletes playing the position and they’re learning what to do. Some may turn into good players and some may not… but Forbes and Spoon are really good players, right now. They both have great eyes, anticipation and athleticism, and they compete like hell for the ball. They both will stick their nose into contact and are just really a pain in the *** for offenses.

Forbes watching Gilmore for a year while he gets his feet wet and just putting on weight is something that I really want to see. Forbes has everything you want in a corner… he just needs to get a little stronger.
Yes, Forbes at #26 vs Witherspoon in the top 10...Forbes might be the better value in that scenario.

Think Wright moves to safety and Joseph either gets traded or released.
