I like Tippmann more than most apparently. Would much rather take him in the 2nd than Avila in the 1st. They are very similar players
I like that thinking. He would be a strong 2nd rounder and plus starter

Give me a physically imposing road grader who can pass block.
In most drafts you can find one in the top 12. In this class there isn't one such guy who can do that in year one.

Best wishes.

Zack Martin was 6’4 308 at the combine…being 301 certainly doesn’t eliminate someone from playing guard
X might prefer the 350 pound guy he saw eating pizza at Costco.

Well Zach is of course pretty unique; which is why teams like their guards heavier. Certainly he proves you do not have to be big to excel; but is is easier if you are.

Personally, I want lard butts at guard. Guys who can ANCHOR first; movement is a secondary issue as long as they have good lateral agility. Being able to pull is a very good thing but its far from the most important thing being a guard; which is to first anchor and pass protect and then fire out and move the DT for the running game. Dallas for far too long has prized quickness too much and we have ended up again and again with quick guys who get pushed around.
Dallas has used a lot of zone blocking. 330 pound linemen usually can't do that. And those massive linemen typically have much greater difficulty reaching the second level, getting out on a screen or doing anything at all in downfield blocking.

and just how important is that compared to anchoring, blowing up a DT, etc?
Having a guy like Zach is like a lottery win; counting on it happening again is stupid. Too many quick footed light guys have failed for us again and again

This team does have surprises when it comes to their board. I wouldn’t love the pick. But I could see the reasoning.

IMO, JMS is the best in this class, but I see him as a OC only. Torrence is a monster and I would take him at 26 without blinking. Lining him next to Tyler for the next decade sounds great to me.
Tippmon could play either G or C. He'd be a nice pick up, would give us options with Biadasz next year.
Availa would be a good rd2 pick if he makes it there.
Don't forget about Vorhese, he would be a top tier guy if not injured. Jerry loves those guys. I could see him fall and be a steal for us.

I like O'Cyrus Torrence alot myself just reminds me of Nate Newton opning holes with Tyler Smith

A big mean nasty guard is a big plus as far as I am concerned. A guy that can stand his ground against anyone; move pretty much anyone; is more important in my mind then pulling and blocking downfield. We keep picking guys who can do that but get bull rushed and cannot open holes when it really matters.

personally and many will argue with me BUT if Robinson is there than I make the pick at #26 but if
hes not there I would take O'Cyrus Torrence there and feel like I have a solid addition to go on my OL for years.
I like mean and nasty in the trenches.
