Man I used to love CART...I hate Tony George.

As far as Danica...if that girl didn't have looks, nobody would give a damn about her...she's done basically nothing.

She has only run 6 events on NASCAR and has 3 top 10's and a top 5. That is not bad

Since some say she's successful just because she always has the best equipment, I thought it would be interesting to see how she finished relative to her teammates in each season, since they're all on the same equipment.

In 2005, her rookie year in Indy, she finished 2nd highest on a 4 driver team, 12th overall.

2006 - 1st on a 4 driver team, 9th overall
2007 - 3rd on a 5 driver team, 7th overall
2008 - 2 / 4, 6th
2009 - 1 / 5, 5th
2010 - 4 / 6, 10th
2011 - 3 / 5, 12th

It should also be noted that in 2011, due to unexplainable team-wide flaws with the cars, Patrick, along with the rest of her full-time teammates would fail to qualify for the 2011 Indianapolis 500, forcing them all to have to attempt to qualify on the following day for the last nine positions in the race.

In fact, she was complaining about the quality of the equipment she was being given as early as 2010.

Let's see how she does when she runs a full season in the Sprint Cup.

I'm sure it'll be along the lines of her Indy Car record...not that impressive.

I'll say it again...if she looked like Sandra Bernhard...nobody would give a damn.

any yet her driving career thus far has not been bad. Yes she has not won but has placed very well in the standing.

Yes she is hot but these owners do not just put a pretty face behind the wheel of these extreamly expensive cars you have got to have the talent or you will not get a ride in Indy or NASCAR

I know facts get in the way of debates. :laugh2:

She has a lot to prove but I was impressed with her progress. Looking at the Daytona Race in Feb where she struggled to work the draft and then in July where she was a major player through out the race and guys willing to work with her in the draft because she was doing a very good job.

She can drive...but she's not all that that they make her out to be...at this point..and don't tell me her marketability...which is tied to her looks doesn't play into this.

Who is making her out to be more than she is? She a good race car driver, not the best not the greatest. From an advertising view being one of the few women in racing she gets attention she has also been more success than the others

I said she can drive...but my main point is if she didn't have the looks...the fans and the media would not be interested in her at all like they are now...based on what she has accomplished so far.

She hasn't been a world beater by any imagination.

She gets far more media attention than guys who do far better than her...and it's because of not only she's a woman but how she looks.

If she looked like Sandra Benhard...she wouldn't be getting all the attention and endorsments and what not that she gets now based on her performance so far.

That's what I'm saying.

And even if that is the case so what? She is having some success, she is attractive and how is this hurting anyone? She is earning respect among drivers around NASCAR who seem to have less of a problem with her than her critics

There is no so what.

I was just pointing out what I thought was obvious.

I root for her and I would have loved for her to win the Indy 500 a few years ago when she almost did.

I hope she does well in NASCAR.

Well she has won in Indy Racing no other woman has and for anyone to say well that win does not count is ridicules. If it did not count they would not have held the race.

2009 - 1 / 5, 5th
2010 - 4 / 6, 10th
2011 - 3 / 5, 12th

Her first two teams only featured 3 drivers and her AGR (now Andretti Autosport) teams featured 4. She spent her IndyCar career as the #2/3 driver and has been relagated to the #3/4 driver since her interest in NASCAR has risen. Could she have maintained #1 and eventually won more races if she stuck to Indy? We won't find out.

As for her finishes, if you take into account the much smaller fields, they really are not that impressive. With about 25 cars per race and 20 drivers who compete in every event a top 10 equates to a top 17 finish in NASCAR. Finishing 5-10 in points equates to finishing 10-20, or outside of the chase in NASCAR.

And this is with the best equipment in IndyCar.

She is cute, she is a good driver, and she represents a change in who is allowed to drive. She was quasi-competitive in a lesser racing series, but hasn't shown much in her limited time in a stock car.

I liked Mario but AJ Foyt is still the man in my eyes

Foyt drove in the Indianapolis 500 for 35 consecutive years, winning it four times (the first of only three to do so).

Foyt is the only driver to win the Indy 500 in both front and rear-engined cars, winning twice with both configurations.

Foyt is the only driver to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Indianapolis 500 the same year (1967).

He is the only person to record victories in the Indianapolis 500, the Daytona 500 stock car race, the 24 Hours of Daytona (twice, with co-driver Bob Wollek), the 24 Hours of Le Mans international sports car endurance race in Le Mans, France, as well as the 12 Hours of Sebring (his last major professional win, in 1985, with co-driver Bob Wollek).

Foyt had never competed in European sports-car racing or driven at LeMans prior to his 1967 winning performance in a Ford Mk. IV co-driven by Dan Gurney. He reportedly only got 10 laps of pre-race practice on the fast, intimidating tree-lined course. While being sprayed with Champagne on the victory podium, he is reported to have asked "Do I win Rookie Of The Year?"

He also has 41 USAC Stock Car wins and 50 Sprint Car, Midget, and Dirt Champ Car wins.

He has won 12 total major driving championships in various categories.
His USAC wins tally is a record 138 (The late Rich Vogler is second with 132.)

Foyt won the 1976 and 1977 IROC championships.

Foyt won 7 NASCAR races, including the 1972 Daytona 500.

Foyt holds the closed course speed record driving the Oldsmobile Aerotech at an average speed of over 250 mph (400 km/h).

Despite having won more USAC sanctioned events than any other driver Foyt never won a CART sanctioned event.

Never touched Formula One and Mario was world Champion.

Don't forget she can make a killer Go Daddy! commercial.
