My two-year old often acts out strictly to get attention. Actively ignoring her is the only way to curb the behavior.

If this principle were obvious to and put into practice by more posters, trollish and attention-whoring behavior would drastically diminish. (I am not calling Slate a troll, but he was undoubtedly trolling for a response there.)

If you can't help but respond to trolls, putting them on ignore seems a wise move to me.

I don't think you got my point....I was saying if he feels the best solution is to ignore him, then definitely do it.

I was also saying that threatening him, is not going to have any effect because "cyber so and so" will not mean anything to most people, who have lives outside of this site, you know?

And besides, doing it to your kids, who are in your household is much different than to use the technique behind the computer.
