They can get out of it after next season, assuming he'd be cut before March 15, 2025. Assuming they have a rookie deal QB, it's fine to keep him for another year.

Jerry should trade Trey Lance to the Giants for a 3rd round pick next year, especially since the Cowboys currently have no 4th, 5th and 6th round picks next year.

Jones likely believes acquiring Lance was masterful GM maneuvering on his part in securing a post-Prescott era successor. If so, there is no way he is trading Lance away to any other team. Doing so would be an atypical GM action for him.
The Cowboys coming off the big disappointment yesterday, Taylor could have a big day. His mobility could give us a lot of problems. The Cowboys have really struggled against backup QBs. They could have a tough time getting up for this game considering they pounded the Giants 40-0 in the opener and NY is coming off a beatdown by the Raiders. Wouldn’t be surprised if we overlook them.
