Hmmm... he backed up woods on every 1/3 series or so last year, I dont really remember their being that noticeable a difference when he was in. If he so bad against the run, then why insert him in the heavy goal line defenses?

You might have noticed that there are some flaws in Marinelli's approach to run defense...273 yards Rushing by Rams...

One of those flaws is that he tends to keep the same DL on the field that were on the drive even when they get near the goalline (i.e. Let the backups play if they were already playing).

Fortunately there are showing some signs of change this year. I don't know if the changes are due to the Rams game or to Kris Richard really being the D-Coordinator but just not having the title.

If I remember correctly Ross was inactive for that Rams game leaving them with only Woods who tore his labrum ?? early in the 1st as the only true 1tech. My memory must be faulty as I remember Ross being on the field in early down goal line situations last season quite often!
