Danny McCray

The thing is, before this game, he was a really solid wrap up tackler. That is about the only thing he had going for him. He is a good special teams guy, but not a starting NFL safety. Not his fault the team didn't put any depth behind the Barry Church project.

Johnson (but he's been injured... Sound familiar?)

It's not like the front office is completely unaware

He's not a starter and plays like one.

Safety should be a focus in the first two days of the draft.

Simply put. He's not a starter. He did not start even in college at LSU. He's a career backup special teams type player. When those guys are pressed into extended playing time, they get exposed.

Put McCray back in his comfort zone as a backup and special teams player, he's a good role player.

Nope, I expect him to be able to tackle. Too much to ask for an NFL defender be able to do that?
Ask Nnamdi or Rogers-Cromartie that.

Matt Johnson is your idea of depth? The guy has been injured every time he laced up his shoes. If you are putting all of your hopes in to a late round project player who is injured, then you are drinking the Jerry Kool Aid.

People seem to think every team is two or three deep at every position-unfortunately that's just not the case. The best teams generally avoid significant injuries unless you have Aaron Rodgers who masks many deficiencies.

The most worthless player on this team. I think he he's worse than Doug Free. He had missed tackle after missed tackle. What does he do to cap off his evening? He drops a ball that hits him right in the hands that would've iced the game. Don't stop there, he was in on the play that allowed a 98-yard punt return. Sigh...We seem to always have these guys on our roster.

Yes, he is worthless but do not blame him for lacking any talent or brains. Blame Jerruh, his scouts and RedBull for not doing a better job of scouting/addressing the safety position.

The guy is doing the best he can but, in all seriousness, he would not be on the team if the Cowboys did a better job of scouting/drafting talent.

He's terrible, but it's not like we haven't known this the entire season. Safety needs to be a huge priority this offseason. But, i'm sure it won't be.

Dallas may look for a safety to backup Church who is the starter so while I do think they need to address it we are talking backup not starter and it is not a priority when talking upgrading backups.

I would not place too much faith in Barry Church either if I was the Cowboys. The guy plays with heart but I (as a fan) have never seen anything from him that would lead me to the conclusion that he will be a nothing more than a serviceable player.

Pass rusher/stud d-lineman and safety should be a top defensive priority in April's draft!

Well you only got 1 number 1 pick so not every position can be filled with a top pick. Church in my view has shown he can do the job, it was a bad break that he was injured but Dallas would be foolish to use top picks for a safty. Hell you have to give players the chance you can't replace at the drop of the hat. With McCray he is what he is and that is a backup player and while I think you should always look to upgrade where you can he is a backup not a starter

Your sounding like Sensy and Church are who you want to depend on next year.

If that does happen, we will probably face another year of not being able to use our exotic blitz packages cause our backend is mediocre at best. We have to upgrade the position, don't know how you wouldn't want to after seeing Sensy lately. As for Church, well he has a horrible injury and its hard to base anything on him at the moment, not to mention he still lacks an INT or PD in his entire career.

An upgrade is needed to the starters, not backups as Sensy for sure should be a a backup.

He is an undrafted FA, he is a backup and a special teams player. He likely will be fighting for a job next year

I don't think they are bad players and while I would not mind seeing an upgrade I would not use top picks to do it when there are other areas that are in need. Am I fine with Sensy and Church? Yes, they are very capable players. We have injuries right now and are having to rely on a Undrafted Free agent. Sorry not going to get my panties in a wad over the starters when other areas are in more need

Both of them are very mediocre, average at best, same as other positions that you probably think are more of a need.

Safety is every bit as much of a need as any other position on this team.

That is your view I don't share it.

McCray has been valuable on special teams and in certain packages. So he's not worthless.

The problem, he is not good enough to be an every down player and is in over his head right now.
