Makes sense. Replace an older, often injured (previous to last season) with an explosive young gun with fresh legs. Played a lot of ST too.

Might as well.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Looks like we've got a short yardage back. This guy is a bulldozer. Not to mention he can catch out of the backfield.

We got a ton of running backs, but I think this guy is one that is going to stay. Someone is getting traded.

Or just released. This was a true board pick from the looks of it. Let him earn a job if he can.

The Cowboys selected Eastern Michigan running back Darius Jackson in the sixth round of the NFL draft on Saturday.

According to the school's website: The 6-foot-1, 221-pound running back made waves at his NFL Pro Day where he ran a 4.35 40-yard dash, jumped a 41-inch vertical, 133-inch broad jump and a 4.27-second 20-yard shuttle. The 41-inch vertical would tie for eighth-best among running backs at the Combine since 2006, while the 133-inch broad jump would tie for fifth-best over that span.

Jackson set the school’s single-season record with 16 touchdowns in 2015. Jackson finished the year with 1,089 yards on the ground. He also starred in baseball in high school.

According to Lance Zierlein's NFL draft profile, Jackson wasn't projected to get drafted. Wrote Zierlein:

STRENGTHS Showed off a rare combination of size, speed and explosiveness at his pro day. Can make variety of adjustments to secure poor throws. Has punt coverage background.

WEAKNESSES: Dancer with a lack of decisiveness as a runner. Vision is well below average.

BOTTOM LINE: The tape doesn’t come close to matching the astounding pro day numbers that Jackson posted, but his combination of size and athletic traits could very well get him drafted. Jackson doesn’t have the vision or decisiveness to be a zone runner and appears to lack the physicality needed as downhill gap-scheme back.

Could pave the way for moving or cutting McFadden. Was reading how we had to run less ZBS to accommodate him and his stats were inflated by a strong Dec.

Seems like Gary Brown has changed the RB body type we bring in. Built much more like he was as a player, but with speed in this guy and Zeke.

The Morris signing is making less and less sense. I'm surprised by this pick, but in the highlight vids I can see that he has great burst and can catch. He can help the team. Can he block? Does he have special teams skills?

Hard to believe we could cut a 1000 yard back but DMC could be in trouble.

Dunbar is a non factor and history at this point.

I think McFadden can still contribute on third downs at least.

And this is coming from a guy who hammered signing him last year.

Elliott's pass catching ability and route running put Dunbar in trouble.

I was waiting for a RB who could play teams though. Since DMC only gives you a returner option. We don't like that third back to not play Teams.

If they don't replace Dunbar with Zeke in his role on their passing sets then I will be hugely disappointed.

I don't know why Dunbar is still around.

At all.

With his injury, he is gone. He was never used enough to make an impact and I honestly don't think he was work keeping on the roster these last couple of years.

Yea, Dunbar is gone and ideally Alfred/McFadden get traded when someone loses a RB.

He was a great weapon last year, until he got hurt yet again. And that's always the story with him and why he needs to be replaced. You just can't rely on him and it hurts the team.
