You have to take it from draft to draft. If I need a corner and it’s the 2023 draft I’m not passing up Gonzales. He had shut down capabilities prior to getting drafted. Same goes for Sauce. I feel I have a better chance of getting a stud receiver in the second or third round than I do corner.
If you go into the draft with corner as a need, then your priorities in the early rounds should be passrushers and OL/WR to make your own passing game better.

Take swings in later rounds on CBs and hope you hit one. Missing on a corner to fill a need is crippling. Using mid-value resources on a corner and heavily investing in the systems around them is the sustainable way to improve the CB room.

Yeah but I knew Sauce and Gonzales are shut down guys…..theree was no doubt these guys were ready now. These later round guys like the guy we got from the Dolphins…late first rounders is different. Mid rounders or guys in the 20s is different. Jaylen Ramsey as well. Sometimes it becomes obvious you take the guy.

Okudah was obvious. Horn was obvious. CJ Henderson was obvious. Heck, Morris Claiborne was obvious. Gonzales went 17th, he was less obvious than these guys.

CB projection is random as much as anything.

I can’t speak on Okudah I wasn’t a fan but everyone was so you’re right there. Mo, CJ and Horn weren’t though. Mo had red flags that people ignored. Henderson did to.

I’m confused what happened to Gonzales. Mock drafts had him as a top 5 pick all year and then top 10 by the time the draft came and he fell like Lamb did but it wasn’t for talent.

The point is that they ALL have red flags in one way or another. Ramsey never generated turnovers, Henderson had some sloppy technique, Horn was too physical, Gonzales isn't very instinctual, and on and on and on. There's no such thing as a player without red flags, especially at CB.
