Cowboys must resist the urge to hand Zeke the ball 400 times this season. As big and strong as he is, he can wear down like any other RB. It would be a terrible shame to shorten the career of an asset that could make the Cowboys contenders for the next ten years.

McFadden had proven his ability to be very productive. Once they wear down a defense sufficiently with Zeke, they could cause further damage by bringing out McFadden.

It's no wonder he wants to stay. This offense will extend his career by limiting his wear and tear. Should he stay healthy, he will have a very nice season, perhaps a thousand yards for the backup averaging ten carries a game.

Exactly....this is a symbiotic relationship to some degree...give Zeke some series off to rest and let DMc get "his" in his opportunities...Darren stays fresher, Zeke stays fresher...we need these guys in that elusive February game and they can't be all tuckered out by then; not to mention future seasons

I agree. The question is how and when to do it. I didn't like the way they gave him breathers last year, third down is not the proper time to do that. I agree with some others on here who would rather see him substituted for on a whole series or two strategically during certain games. It's a delicate matter to try and juggle, but one that will be crucial going forward for this team's success.

In a sense, but remember, Ron Springs was a half back converted into a full back. Even when he wasn't carrying the ball he was lead blocker in a lot of Tony Doesn't yardage. He certainly helped Tony extend his career.

Springs was also their leading receiver in 1983, he had over a thousand yards combined rushing and receiving while Dorsett rushed for over 1300 yards.

Ron Springs, he was a good player, father of Shawn Springs, he passed away too early in life.

Anyway, the best example I can think of is Otis Anderson, a 1st round draft pick, had a good career with the Cardinals, they cut him during a youth movement and he signed on as the backup to the Giants Joe Morris who was 5'7 feet tall.

He helped extend Morris's career for a few more years and was rewarded for it. However, the Giants cut Morris at the end of 1988 and drafted another RB who got hurt at the start of 1989. They started the 13 year veteran and went all the way to the Super Bowl championship where Anderson was named the MVP.

I hope this happens in the regular season, I just hope they use Zeke more in the playoffs....of which I'm still sore about from last year.
