I wouldn't go after Sharper. This is the right draft to get a safety. We can get Allen at our position. We may even be able to trade down and get him.

Why do you think we would have any chance at Earl Thomas. We can't get far enough up to do that.
In a lot of mock drafts he is falling to pick 27 due to his lack of size. However, after the Combine rolls around that could all change. If he does end up going before our pick and Iupati isn't there I wouldn't mind taking Nate Allen (although I'll admit I never got to watch him play).

Thomas will go in the top 15. We have no chance of getting him. Whoever is predicting him to fall anywhere near 27 is crazy.

Scott Wright and Mel Kiper (I know, I know) think he might. This is pre-Combine though, so it could very well change. We would be lucky if he did fall.

Two to four safeties are going in the first. Thomas is in the top two ahead of Mays yada. Allen will either go in the bottom of the first or more likely top of the second right now. Obviously that can change esp pending the combine.

No thanks... I'd prefer signing Antrel Rolle at only 27 years old.
I'll admit I don't know much about Rolle the safety, but I do know Rolle the corner wasn't good. Safety and corner are different positions, but it seems the Cardinals aren't interested in resigning him. The argument could be made that Bidwell is cheap though, and that is why he wouldn't want to resign him.

I don't think there has ever been a time in my life when I wanted a 34 going on 35 year old Free Agent. It has nothing to do with liking or disliking him.

I'm not usually a fan of a stop-gap, except for this case.

You cant deny his talent level and what he does for a defense, regardless of his age.

He would put our defense over the top, and we can still draft a safety in the first round to learn under him for a season, then Thomas/Jones/Allen can start next season.

I think he stays with NO though, they just didnt want to pay him the money required for a franchise tag.

Go young.. Go high in the draft...

What would be stopping us in doing so if we got Sharper?

If anything, it would be more beneficial to learn under one of the best safeties of all time.

He can learn more under Sharper than Hamlin, that's for sure.

I think the Saints will still resign him. Putting the tag would happen if there was a demand for him elsewhere. He fits in the system and has stated he would like to stay. I would think that the deal will be done with him by next week.

you never know...sometimes that one guy can be the missing piece..if im not mistaken the Saints defense led the leaugue in take aways this year after having a terrible 2008..but I do believe the addition of Greg Williams helped that too

This is how I see it. Why is everyone so obsessed with youth?

Like the 92 Cowboys had no older players. No key veteran players mixed in with all that youth........Everett, Washington, Haley.

We're supposed to be a legit SB contender. These are the type moves SB contenders make to get over the top.

Why not Sharper for a 1 yr deal. I say give him a 1 yr deal for 8 mil or as much as he's likely have guaranteed in any 2-3 yr deal he might get.

There is no cap for 2010. Any 1 yr deal we sign him to would obviously have no impact going forward.

I thought the same thing yesterday, but Sharper commented recently "If a team lets you test the market, they are willing to let you go" I'm not so sure anymore. If Sharper goes somewhere else, I am going to miss him for 2 reasons, He fit the system well and he is HOT. :D

Remember we only get one free agent. Is that the best we could hope to get from free agency this year?

Does Saint's content on here send a beacon to Saint's fans or something?

Usually I don't post on opposing teams message boards, just read. I just decided to voice my thoughts tonight...
