As I kept watching my tivo recording of last weeks game I kept asking myself, how many more times can Dat get blocked? The Lamont Jordan touchdown run really stuck in my craw. I think that we should either go back to the 4-3 or need to see if Shanle and can start and put Dat in on the nickel. I mean come on, Kevan Barlow and Lamont Jordan. The only reason westbrook wont kill us on the ground is he wont get more than 10 carries.

Shanle is smaller than Dat.

That is correct and an oversight on my part. But I still think that we are going to need someone who can actually fight off of blocks. I have seen Dat pancaked soo many times watching replays.

So ... Dat sheds blocks better than any LB in the league and you want to replace him with whom??????? Stuck on stoopid.

Dat does not shed blocks great - he's a good football player
But short - what 5-11?

Shanle is 6-2 245 - and stout at point of attack and can take a QB down as well!

Shorter is better for shedding blocks since you have better balance.

Bradie James is bigger than Dat, yet does he make half the plays? No. He doesn't. Size isn't everything.

I was not saying that we need to replace him right now. I dont think fowler is ready to be a starter in this league. And if you think he sheds blocks better than anyone in this league I think maybe you should watch a little closer. I think if that were true he would have shed Zac Crockett and Jordan would not have scored. Oh and if he sheds blocks better than anyone else in the league why hasnt he been to a probowl, or ever been listed all pro? I am not trying to trash the guy. I like him. I just don't think he is best suited for this defense. The proof is in the film. Do you ever rewatch the games in slow motion to see who it is that blew the assignment? I think that the cowboys would be much better off if we switched back to a 4-3 for this season. That way we could best take advantange of the personell we have. We dont have enough linebackers and plenty of defensive lineman. When parcells first got here and we went 10-6 he tried to make the system fit the personell not vice versa. I think he needs to use 3-4 as a situational defense and use 4-3 as a base. That way Dat could be useful again and this wouldnt even be a question.

I would venture to say that James had a better week last week than did Dat. I am not saying that he is an all pro or anything, but much better suited for this defense.

Dat is a warrior. He's the best LB on the team, the player who is actually doing his job in the 3-4, and one of the best players on the D.

Period. The disrespect shown towards him is nauseating.

I swear..

Every seasons somebody starts a thread like this. I really dont feel like doing a run down of all the players Parcells has gotten rid of, but something tells me if he had a problem with Dat's size, especially a coach that is known to like bigger Linebackers, he would have done it already.

Of course, if I throw out the little Gem that Mr. Nguyen is leading the team in tackles, most that dont like him anyway will just say, that is because he gets the most plays or something there other  .

Pretty soon Shanle will be 6'4" and 265, the way he keeps growing.

did you re-watch the film and look at the lineman in front of him? the lineman are supposed to tie up the blockers, so that Dat and the rest of them can run around and make plays

What have we ever won with Dat? Its changing of the guard time.....

Bruschi in 1998/99 what had he done? Vrabel with Pittsburgh - what had he done?

Shanle has played his *** off this year situationally and has 1 1/2 sacks and is tough as nails. He's ascending while the older vets are being phased out. Thats NFL for you.

Come on Nors

Football player is a football player. I dont think Parcells cares about body measurables, once he knows he has a "Football Player" on his hands. In one his Press Conferences, in 2003, he even said Dat could have played for him anywhere.

Nors, why hasent Dat been replaced? Why didnt we hear about some youngster splitting time with him, like we heard with Dextor?

Again, I asked you what has Shanle done, and you respond with "What have we ever won with Dat?".

Dat has led the team in Total Tackles 3 out of the last 5 years (2001,2003,2004). I cannot even tell you how many times the guy has been named captain of the defense (yeah yeah, MLBs always get that honor but heh), he should have went to the Pro Bowl in 2003, but Urlacher's name is bigger. In 2003, he led the team in Tackles, and guess what, that was our only Playoff Appearence since 1999, and we aint been back since.

I think even Einstein would surmise Dat > Shanle.

know what gets me? Parcells wouldn't include Dat into a deal, that would have netted us a proven, double-digit sack, pass-rusher, yet now, he's being phased out?! hmmm, we got some wierd thinkers up in here

leave it alone guy, Dat is the only consistent playmaker we have on D

Oh, you are talking about the pass rusher from NO. I am glad that deal didnt go down and obviously, NO, thought Dat Ngueyen had some value.

I like the fact that we got young on the Defensive Line instead of bringing in a player from another squad.

That reminds me, I need to see how Dextor is doing.

but but but Dat is only 4'11'' and 156lbs....I saw it on the norsscoutingreport.com

Dat is the leader of this teams defense. If you wish to go 4-12 then wish for Dat to sit or whatever. Nice fans here sometimes.

How about them Patriots !!!
