Lithium Ion batteries can overheat, I never leave iPads, iPhones or car plugged in while away or while asleep. At least I try not to…

Glad she is alright. Unfortunately, when people die in a fire it is mostly due to smoke inhalation; not the fire. That is according to several of my fire fighters friends. Unfortunately, I lost my brother in law due to smoke inhalation when his house caught on fire.

I am so sorry about the house fire and the loss of their precious cat.

On January 24, 2014, I lost my best friend, my brother-in-law to a house fire. We were playing on our new Christmas presents, our PS4s. We were talking and have the best time of our life killing a witch in Destiny. As we were talking to each other, I heard glass breaking and a loud boom. The next thing I heard was my sister-in-law screaming. I later found out the loud glass sound was the windows breaking. My best friend Neal, said, "where's my good flashlight". I then heard static and crackling and nothing else. Neals's wife made it out safely. She had run by his room where he was playing screaming for him to come out. I later found out he almost made it out. Worst day of my life, for me and my wife and her family. Life has been changed forever.

Oh man, I'm so sorry to hear that. You must be haunted daily with that memory. I assume it was a gas leak?

They were using an older fireplace with an insert. The memory never goes away. The fire marshal said the upper part of the house and the lower part were on fire. I think the chimney wasn't solid.
Not a day doesn't go by that my wife and I don't think of him. Life has changed for all of us. His wife has never got over it either.

To make it even worse, my mother in laws health started getting worse after this and my wife moved in to take care of her because her health got worse. My wife then lost her mother 2 years after this, her dad passed away from cancer 4 years earlier.
It's been very tough, and last week my mother-in-law's cat had to be put down due to kidney failure. That was the last thing of her mama's.

So sad, brother. Try to keep just the good memories alive.
