-----------------------------
After seeing this video of Spadaro spitting on the star I got in touch with him. I let him know on a 15 minute phone call that I thought he was completely out of line. I told him that he knew he was taking it too far and of course he now agreed that he did go too far.
"I was asked to do it by the fans, so I did it", said Spadaro. Which begs the question as to what else he would do if the fans asked.
"I am sorry for doing it and I promise I would never spit on the star ever again. I was just trying to have fun, but I understand it went too far."
When I was talking to Dave I asked him if I was the first person to contact him about this incident from the 'enemy side' and he said yes. He informed me the video would be coming down ASAP and even in a roundabout way asked me not to write about the video because he knew it could only mean trouble for him.
I am not the first to write about this video. The link to the original video has been on some message boards for hours now. The Dallas Morning News wrote about this issue on their blog. And I hear it's being discussed on some local radio stations in the Dallas area.
Dave being an internet coordinator he should know that in today's world anything that goes online is spread around within minutes, if not seconds.
The most interesting thing about all of this to me is that I told Dave that he should just own this because it's the Philly way. You know, they're all tough guys in Philly and that includes the Eagles and their fans.
Dave wanted on part of owning any of his actions in the video. He sounded as if he was genuinely sorry for doing it and I do believe he was very sorry it was now going to be a national story. All that bravado Dave had in the video was long gone. Sort of like the confidence the Eagles had when they walked into that stadium four hours after Dave spit on the star.
Now again. Dave was real sorry for doing this and he made that abundantly
clear throughout the conversation.
But just watch the video. You spit on the star Dave. You spit on the star. You didn't stomp on it or run around on it, you spit on it!
I don't think any of the employees of the Dallas Cowboys would head into Financial Field and spit on the Eagles logo as they looked around to make sure and not get caught doing it.
Let me close with this. It's not the end of the world and Dave should not be fired. He screwed up. We all do it. Yeah, maybe his bosses give him hell for it and ask him 10-15 times why he would think that would be ok to place on the teams website. But don't fire the guy.
Maybe, just maybe it's these kinds of things that keep the Eagles from actually winning of importance. The football God are always in play and this will be just another reason for them to help the Cowboys beat down the Eagles on Saturday.
