We at Philly SportsCast are all for hatin’ on the Cowboys and sure there is a long-standing rivalry between the Eagles and those boys in blue. However, this video goes way too far.

Dave Spadaro, the Eagles new-media guru and longtime newsletter editor, takes it upon himself to spit on the Cowboys’ star in the middle of the field at their new stadium. It is a classless act, which wreaks of trying too hard and because Spadaro is an employee of the Eagles, should never have seen the light of day.

Hell, the three drunks that produce this site/podcast have more class than this guy. I am sure this video is going to go over well in the Cowboys locker room before Saturday night’s game.

While the above clip takes a shot at Eagles fans, there should be no association with the fan. If this was an everyday Joe and this was some sort of underground video, it would be gross but funny and forgotten. However, Spadaro is an Eagles employee – again even editing and uploading this video to the Eagles website was a shortsighted disaster.

“I was just having fun with the rivalry, Spadaro told 610 WIP’s Howard Eskin. “People are making a big deal of it.”

C’mon Dave, you have to know how how insidious a video like this can be.

Spadaro spits on star
Apparently, Terrell Owens isn’t the only person to have disgraced the Dallas Cowboys’ star.

Dave Spadaro, editor of philadelphiaeagles.com and an employee of the Eagles, videotaped his spitting on the centerfield star at Cowboys Stadium on Sunday before the Eagles played the Cowboys. The video was posted on the Web site, but was taken down sometime today.

Dallas media outlets picked up on the video and one – 105.3 “The Fan” -- posted it on its Web site. Here's the link.

“I did it all in fun and I’ve done it before with other teams in the spirit of the rivalry,” Spadaro said tonight. “It’s something I’ve been asked to do by Eagles fans. If I did something to offend somebody, I regret it. I meant no disrespect to the Cowboys organization or to their fans. They have a beautiful stadium and a marvelous organization.”

In the clip, Spadaro -- who is not visible -- pans inside the new $1.5 billion stadium and down to the iconic star.

“Nobody’s looking as I’m standing on the star,” he said on the video.

Spadaro then spits on the painted star.

“There you go, fellas” he said. “Spit on that star. I could do more. You know, Dallas kind of deserves a second one. Nobody looks.”

And Spadaro spit again.

A text message left with an Eagles spokesman was not responded to tonight.

Spadaro has been affiliated with the Eagles for approximately a decade. He authors an online column, hosts a show on the Web Site and is a visible presence in the media. Before coming to the team he worked for the Daily Local in West Chester and ran Eagles Digest.

Owens once celebrated a touchdown by running midfield and slamming the football on the star before a Dallas player knocked him down. The wide receiver was with San Francisco then, a few years before he signed with the Eagles.

Hes not sorry he did it. He looked around before he did it to make sure no one was looking fgs, so he KNEW damn well what he was doing was wrong. You better believe the ******* should be fired. That dude better have some security with him if he shows up Saturday at the stadium, I talking for real here.

Here is the main issue with what he did. Trash talking is not that big of a deal, DJax saying that the "Cowboys are scard of him" and that "Jenkins cant shut me down" is no big deal. If players want to talk some trash, there is no problem with that. Some guys do it to actually pump themselves up, so I dont get mad or anything at that, I think it is kinda funny myself.

However, when a paid media person for the organization goes onto a rival's home field and spit a lugy on the midfield logo and then says "have another" and hacks another lugy on the logo.........THAT CROSSES THE LINE!!!!


I am so pissed off right now I could punch a hole in the wall. How this cant have the same effect on our players and coaches will be beyond me. I WANT TO SEE SOME FIRE AND BRIMSTONE TOMMOROW FROM THESE GUYS!!!!!
