David Arkin OG

4. DAVID ARKIN Missouri State 6-4½ 300 5.34 Projection: 4th round

Started 31 games at RG and 13 at LT over four years. "I think he can fit one position: center," one scout said. "The kid's very competitive and he's smart (30 on the Wonderlic). He really struggles to anchor at guard. At the (East-West) game he just got his (expletive) slung around. He did practice it (center) but never played there. He needs to be in a zone-stretch scheme so he's running off the ball to the outside number of the player and then he cuts him. He can't survive any other way." Two scouts said he was better than ex-Packer Allen Barbre, another blocker from the school. "It's nobody's fault, but the strength program there is always behind the curve," another scout said. "He must continue to redefine his body and get stronger so he can become more explosive on contact."

Interesting stuff.

This can be fixed, to an extent. Mike Woicik project. He'll live in the weight room.

Not bad........

Agreed.

This guy is a fit for sure.
He sounds like a Kosier clone to me. 6'5" 302 and a good pulling, trapping type OG.

With no NFL supervision, get him some 'roids and get to it!

Kosier with more attitude. He's not as technically sound as Kosier but more athletic which is ok in a rookie. You can teach technique, your not going to teach athletic ability.

He's a LG. He's not a RG. I think we're still one player shy on the OL in this draft yet.

JMO

Plus I've heard a few things that he wasn't the hardest worker.

Not worthy of a top 10 pick.[/QUOTE]

Jerry raved about the kid's work ethic. Comes from a blue collar family and helped them clean commercial buildings from the time he was a kid.

You can flip OGs. And even if you can't flip this guy, you can definitely flip Kosier.

Either way, this isn't a guy who will start right now.

I like what I've read about him. He obviously needs to work on his technique, but they say he his first punch is nasty and plays with fire. To top it off, he is an academic all American and a student of the game and has a great work ethic.

I really love that the Cowboys are looking for guys with real work ethics.

Excluding 2008 when he was injured all season, he has played 64 of 67 games since he was a lineman.

It just sucks when you go in there and ruin peoples silly theories with crazy things like facts. :)

Uh....okay.

Fair enough. At this point, we don't know where the Cowboys will elect to play him. He could be anything. He sounds much more like a LG to me but he could end up at RG.

Nicely done, ABQ.
