The New York Daily News reported last night that New York Giants offensive lineman David Diehl was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He reportedly struck several parked cars with his vehicle in Astoria, Queens after leaving a bar in the area.
The paper also reports that Diehl registered a .18 reading on a Breathalyzer test, which is .1 above the legal limit of .08 in the state of New York. Formal charges should follow later today. Being of Croatian descent, he was reportedly watching Croatia’s match during the Euro Cup, as evidenced by multiple tweets and an image that a fan posted of him on Instagram.

An old Chinese proverb says that happiness consists of watching your neighbor fall off a roof and getting your haircut every two weeks.

Let's see what kind of penalty he gets with Goodell's buddy and partner of crime also being the owner of the Giants.

there will probably not be a suspension for a first offense.

I agree and the key is 1st offense. Does not mean Diehl will go scott free in terms of the NFL process when dealing with off the field issues.

As we all know there's no consistency or fairness with Goodells penaltys. The dictator does what he wants. becaues it one of his favorite owners, Diehl will get the absolute minimum.

Goodall's response is a non issue. The NFL already has a complete process for dealing with this sort of thing. Just depends on whether or not he's got any priors.

I disagree. I think he looks at the issue in its entirety no 2 situation are ever the same. Circumstances surrounding an incident will and should play a part in the punishment out come.

Diehl as a 1st time offender may get a warning not to mention be required to get tested more often as part of the drug and alcohol program the NFL has. Some of you guys see Goodell as bad I don't.

That does not mean I agree with all things that are done but I don't think he is playing favorites

He needs some kind of consequence. Whether it is a couple of game suspension or a large fine. He got lucky he didn't hurt/kill anyone but he easily could have. There has to be some consequence. I know it is the first time he has done anything bad since being a Giant but this could have been a lot worse.

Wont be that big of a deal because they just won the Super bowl.

The NFL has been very lenient with off field stuff until it becomes a recurring problem. I remember Leonard Little of the Rams killed someone while DWI and he didn't get suspended one game...

In my opinion he should be in the same amount trouble than Blackmon. I know Blackmon has been in trouble before, but his first offense was in college, not in the NFL. So as far as being Pro athletes, they are the same as of now.

And they say Diehl struck "Several" parked cars. Meaning he very easily could have taken somebodies life that night. He had no control of his driving, and had no business being behind the wheel after drinking in the first place. If your striking cars that are parked on the side of the road, you have more then just a glass of wine or a beer. Your belligerent at that point. Blackmon blew a .24 which is 3 times the legal limit.

The league should drop the hammer on both of them and give a suspension at minimum. I don't mind if it's not the full 4 games, but both showed horrible judgement and should get a game or 2 suspension.

Just my take.
