David Irving

We’ve been searching for a pressure player and one finally falls in our lap that can play any position on the DL and we will just let him walk for a 2nd?

Are you guys serious? David Irving is incredible and we should be building around that guy.

Maybe he’s a little immature but he’s worth it and these millionaire coaches that use the same gameplan every Sunday need to do whatever it takes to keep his head on straight.

This player is worth whatever headache he causes.
Spot on.
These draft dorks get all geeked up this time of the year.
Just wait...another month and these nerds will be willing to trade him for a 4th rounder in hopes of drafting their new pet cat.

The guy dominates and takes over games. He lives in other teams backfields and he is young. He stays.

Maybe some of you should look at how we've been doing with our 2nd round pick under JG.

Bruce Carter
Morris Claiborne ( Used 2nd rounder to move up)
Gavin Escobar (Out of the league)
Demarcus Lawrence ( Great this year but also has a suspension under his belt)
Randy Gregory (Suspended )
Jaylon Smith (Didn't play 1st year and pretty bad most of this year)
Chidobe Awuzie (Injured most of the year, showed some promise at the end)

Irving has 11 sacks in 10 games he started. Unless his cocussion issue is career threatening, I try to keep him on the team.
Lawrence was a 2nd and 3rd round pick, lets not forget that.

No. Let's hope Irving grows up. I can't give him away for a 2nd. I'd say this even if this team was good at drafting in that round.

Can you honestly trust a dude that does this to his head? I know I can't.:omg: Take the 2nd...before he fails another drug test.

He might be worthe the headache. But if we left him go for a second we were dying to get rid of him and no one knew it.

The expectation is that Dallas will place a second round tender on him.

If a team places an offer sheet with an annual salary of ~14M with 35-40M guaranteed, are you matching that offer or taking that second round pick?

To make things simple, we will say a mid second round pick is on the table. A top 50 selection.

Not sure if it influences your decision or not, but in this hypothetical situation, you can assume Tank is staying long term.

At that point you take the 2nd rounder and don't get cute with the selection. Dallas got Irving for nothing so this is win-win situation if they let him go for draft pick or resign him.

I just like to know where the guys heads at does he really want to play football?

If yes you put a tender on him I hope he gives us a solid year then we pay him the money.

Keeps nf him at all cost would be a no-brained if it wasn't for the concussions issues. But since they are there I'd let him walk for a 2nd round and then proceed to go cry in the kitchen pantry eating midnight milky ways

My thoughts exactly. I think some people are more willing to see Randy Gregory given another shot than Irving.

If the FO/medical staff feel iffy on his long term status due to concussions, I'm fine with a 2nd round tender in the chance some other team bites on it.

He is one test away from 10 games suspension.

I'm truly conflicted on this one. You guys make some good points on both sides. I would probably put a 2nd round tender on him. The one thing I hate more than anything right now are guys who are not available. Guys who always get hurt, suspended, etc. But the guy is talented, and can dominate a game, and what's the price for that?

Now next season, you could have 3 guys on your team that could get after the QB, if Taco ups his game. With guys getting after the QB, there are tons of other things that will automatically work out in our favor. Corners will look dominate, Safeties will look dominate, and the LBs could also look dominate. With a dominate front 7, the sky is the limit.

So on one hand, I'd want another 2nd rounder, but in all honesty, I'd like a dominate front 4 and we're VERY close to that with him on the team.

I really like him and when he's on, he's ON. BUT. He's been suspended before and who knows if this concussion injury will linger around. Second round pick? I'd take that.
So would you take a pick for Dlaw and Zeke too?
Dlaw has a suspension and injury history, Zeke has a suspension his though has been healthy
Seems like Dlaw and Irving are identical situations and Zeke not far off

Irving is not fetching a 1st round pick. If a team wants him for a 2nd, let him walk. His play is too spotty anyway. He's available, then he's not available. He's a terror, then he disappears.
Let him go if he gets a better deal. I'd love to get a 2nd round pick in return.

I can't disagree, but can only almost agree. Here is why.
Yes he has been spotty on his play, but he has been becoming more consistent in his play. In his limited play this year, he has done quite well or seems to have.
If the coaches use these players right, or change this out dated scheme. And use them in the right rotation. Then we may see that consistency, from more players than just Irving.

However, if we could get a top 50 pick, then can't go against that. But anything lower I would just rather he stay. Actually I prefer he stays anyway, but not at a huge price of course. hat that price is, not sure, I would just be guessing.
