David Johnson new deal

Youre coming up with the conclusion he's the best the last two years how exactly? Because it cant be further from the truth lol.

Zeke has been the best back. In his rookie year, he would have he eclipsed 2000 yards if not for coaching and in year 2 he would have easily had 1700-1800 yards if not for RG witch hunt. If healthy, he will be the next back to eclipse 2000.

We use Zeke for 5 years with possible franchise tags, and run him into the dirt. Then we draft another

Zeke will expect a new contract after the 3rd year of his rookie deal. Just like Gurley.

None of the top tier RBs are going to risk getting LeVeon'ed.

That is a good point.

We'll see if we give it to him. Gurley didn't miss six games on suspension. And just because Gurley got that, it doesn't mean everybody gets it.

You think Zeke is ready to miss game checks *and* give back bonus money? I think the Cowboys have every right to go after prorated bonus for the suspended games too. Zeke is not in near the same bargaining position as Gurley.

I have a hard time seeing owners just folding on 1st round picks, and giving new contracts routinely after the 3rd year, when they have the rights to 4 and a 5th year option if they want it. Bad business.

With Dak, it's a different situation, as he isn't getting a first round contract. He's way over performing his draft status. At the 4th pick, Zeke was supposed to be a top player, and was paid like it.

Im not arguing against Zeke here, but this could woulda should stuff does not count.
Its just speculation.

He's a stud and he's very young, so yes, he should get a huge extension next year.

1. Does anybody actually think Zeke has been the best RB in the league either of the last two years?

2. Everyone agrees you'd let him walk before paying him those contracts, correct?

1) Yes. The absolute best RB in the game.

2) No, I'd attempt to re-sign if he has straightened out his immaturity.

2a) Please troll elsewhere.

Zeke was a Romo Window pick. If we knew what was happening at QB, it would have been Ramsey.
I get what you're saying and I agree somewhat. I think you're saying that they expected Romo to play 2 to 3 more years and Zeke was the best way to get the offense over the top. Had they been planning for more of a long term situation (where they are now), I think someone else would have been picked. Truth is, if they knew Romo was done, they'd probably have tried to move up for a QB... or (yikes) taken Lynch.

Zeke will get a 2nd contract with. Dallas barring a serious injury or deline in talent.

It means we're looking at close to $17-18mn a year for Zeke.... lord help us.
Gurley got 15, but the guaranteed 45 up front was huge
Johnson got 13, up to 15 (but prob not)...30 guaranteed.

I think its probably 16-16.5 range, but who’s counting at that point

Yes, and no. Unless he falls off a cliff.

So don't ever say players are selfish for wanting their money. Cause look what you suggested to do. It helps the team but screws the player

Dallas will exercise that 5th-year option. Year 6 & 7 he will be franchise tagged or traded. I don't see the Cowboys ever paying an RB top dollar ever again. It's just too easy to draft a top rated RB every 6 or 7 years.

We love him as the best as Cowboy fans, but most others put him behind Bell and Gurley...and some even behind Johnson.
They say that they run behind worse lines and still put up the numbers, and are more versatile threats. Right or wrong.

You must have preferred Ramsey over Zeke, because making that argument otherwise doesn't really make any sense.
Zeke averages through his first two years a 4.6 yards per carry. Behind the best Oline in the league.

Again wheres this best coming from?
