Found out about him from Mayock: http://www.nfl.com/videos/mayocks-s...NI-running-back-David-Johnson-looks-promising

Could be a 3 or 4 rd pick. Would allow us to focus on defense in first two rounds. I'm not too concerned with level of competition (but I may be biased since he may be my pet cat). He dominated for 3 yrs. Breakaway acceleration, physical, great hands, blocks well. Great size as well 6'1" 229. Good character guy. Also, he returns kickoffs.

Plenty of YouTube vids of him. Check him out. I think he would be a great mid-round pick since I don't think it's wise or realistic to be considering offense with the first two picks. I think he looks like he could be every bit as good as all the other top backs that have been mentioned (Gordon, Gurley, Coleman, Ajayi, Abdullah, Duke Johnson, etc.).

We will draft a back even with Murray back and I think it will be DJ or Cobb.

If Todd Gurley is on the board at 27. I take him. If the Cowboys want a running back. Get the best one in the draft.

I completely agree. I think there's only one guy, Gurley, who can give us what Demarco did. Then again, you may have to wait for 6 weeks with him.

There's a lot of good running backs in this draft, but we there will be a big drop off with pretty much all.of them

If Gurley is on the board at 27 he most likely isn't goin to be ready to play week 1. Personally I'm not willing to draft a rb in round 1 if he is headed for the pup list. Too many talented rbs for that in my opinion

He's actually out of Northern Iowa, not Illinois.

His talent level is worth the wait. I will not let that issue keep me from selecting him. When he is tearing up the league running behind this line you will agree with me.

Maybe, maybe not. He's no more talented than the dozens of 1st round rb's we've all seen bust before Gurley. Injury problem + character problems = big risk. He's the overpriced (not literally, rookies are cheap) shiny toy everyone wants but doesn't actually need.

This is my guy. Not only can he play RB. He was recruited as a WR and could play H-Back as well in the NFL.

Gurley is Marshawn Lynch with 4.4 speed. Yes he is heaf and shoulders above the next best in this draft.

We have been selecting best player at certain position in the draft for a while now. Martin best OG, Fred best center, Claiborne best cb/defender, Tyron best OT, Dez best WR etc.

Love his receiving skills. Great 3rd down back if he is WILLING to pick up blitzes.

An option that keeps coming back to me in all of this is that if they can get Dez locked down then use the franchise tag on Murray and draft Gurley. Now you buy that year of having to wait for Gurley to get to 100%, roll another year with Murray with the Romo window closing in a few years. I know it's a lot of money to franchise Murray but it wouldn't be an end of the world decision if they went this route. Of course this would be down the list of options.

While I understand that thought process, it seems like a luxury that yes we can afford, but it doesn't help our non-championship worthy defense any. I still think we need to commit as much resources as possible to the defense.

I agree with this. I'd like the first two picks to be DE, DT and then RB in the 3rd if we can't resign Murray. If we do resign him then by all means go defense in the 3rd round. The only other offensive position we should draft is RT even if we resign Free or Parnell (I am assuming we won't be able to resign both of them).

I don't like Gurley because I don't think he's worth the risk. Coming back from ACL is common these days yes, but it's not a guarantee he will be as fast or physical when he returns. Plus he be on the shelf for a year as you mentioned.

I think with our O line and a deep RB draft, picking up a 3rd round RB should keep the offense humming.
