David Nelson's Antics

Yeah, because the Easter Bunny is real and that's not for comedic purposes.

He was calling for Nelson to be sizably fined and for the cheerleader to be fired & have her locker cleared out before the game was even over. That's not outrage? To each their own purview, I suppose...

And I swear some of you must never have been in love...

Outrage is a bit strong.

For one, you do realize that players receive significant fines for not pulling their socks all the way up right? So with that in mind, I don't think it's ridiculous to assert that he should receive a fine for unsportsmanlike conduct. That celebration was more grandiose and contrived then ANY touchdown celebration in the endzone that we've seen all season. David Nelson shouldn't be able to circumvent the spirit of the rule by executing the stunt in the cheerleaders area, which by the way is not an area the players are authorized to enter. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the designated player area on the sideline is outlined in chalk and spans from the 30 yard line to 30 yard line. So yes, I do think given the points I just outlined that he should and likely will receive a fine.

Secondly, I was exaggerating to emphasize my point. Do I think she should have been fired mid game? No. Do I think she should be on the squad next year. No.

non issue.. He loves his girl & that opportunity for her to see him live cheering at a game will likely be her last if she is a 5 year vet, so he made it special for her.

How as that unsportsman-like? The guy's in love.

didnt bother me at all, thought it was cute

Same. I would have thought something of it if he ran all the way around to give it to one of our cheerleaders that he wasn't involved with, but that's his girl.

The embarrassment on her face was more than a little amusing to me.

That being said... she should be fired. :laugh2:

It was no big deal and a lot of marginal fans (females especially) think it was cute. Firing or reprimanding the girl would cause a backlash IMO.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHdJ9QxzcX8 Historical footnote - Back in the day, the cheerleaders lined up for the opposing team's introductions.

If you don't want the antics, don't let the other team score. For the most part, we kept them out of the endzone yesterday, so who cares?

In the SN game, Santonio Holmes, told the ref to his face his call was BS; it was picked up on audio, but there was no flag. I guess the NFL is OK with players disrespecting the refs?

Well it was a little cheesy but it was also romantic. I'd have probably kissed her, too. Some of you guys need some perspective.

Besides she's really hot.

What?! I'm not dead yet!

It was goofy and stupid.

I'd probably do goofy and stupid stuff if I were an NFL WR and was dating a Dallas cheerleader, too.

I don't get why anyone really cares. The couple was posing together for Fox on the field before the game. I'm sure the girl was briefed beforehand on what was and wasn't appropriate.

Who cares?

How often will he be able to play in a game that she cheers for?

Let the guy have his moment.

How was it part of the natural flow of the game? It's just as unsportsmanlike as a contrived endzone celebration. Why did the NFL make it illegal to take your helmet off after a TD? Why did players take off their helmet following a TD in the first place? Because they were screaming "look at me everybody" and the NFL decided it was inappropriate. I'm predicting that the NFL will decide David Nelson's stunt was also inappropriate and that he will receive a fine. Maybe I'm wrong about that prediction and if so I'll be the first one to admit I was wrong.

First, if your girl looked like that, you'd do something similar just to let the world know that you hit the hot chick lottery.

Secondly, most NFL cheerleaders are there waiting for their big break. This stunt got her more exposure than several years of being on the team would.

That said, I still think it should have been a flag and 15 yards.

Okay fine, I can deal with that. If the NFL deems it as so. I mean, given all the other ticky tack things they call penalties on they may as well.

My main gripe are the nutty posters who think the cheerleader should be fired over this. Man I'm glad I am not neighbors to some of these people.

Your cat went into our yard and dropped a pea sized turd in it! I'm calling the cops!

Really? You're bothered by this?

Sorry, I can't grasp that. I guess you're a better fan than me. I guess you think the girl should've been escorted from the stadium immediately.

who cares? She's hot, he's happy, we WON 44-7. Seems all good to me!:D

She's a gorgeous girl, so I really can't blame him.

She's been a DC Cheerleader for 4 years and he's only been with the Bills for 2. They are both from Texas. I was ok with it.
