Davis and Columbo, why did they play those final meaningless games last year?

because they go paid to.

we have moved on from those players but not before spending draft picks to replace them.

the best way for a coach to lose his team is to not make decisions based on merit.

so I would speculate that the guys that sucked outplayed the guys you wanted evaluated in practice time.

this is the biggest disconnect I see with the fan base. coaches can do quite a bit of evaluation in practice, even if the fans can't see it too.

The team doesn't think like you or I. They are there to win football games and they play the best players available that they think will help them win. Garrett wanted to win those games badly. He was finally a head coach and you think he wants to tank a game. You have OTAs, training camp, and preseason to evaluate young players. The only reason to put those players in those games last year was so the fans could see them. Big deal. The question is why weren't they cut before the end of the season?

Even if the job was in the bag -- which most sources reported it was before the final game, he wanted to end the season on a positive note -- you do that by playing your best guys. Period.

That one is likely about him being a good blocker and not wanting to reward Choice who Garrett does not appear to like at all. Choice committed the sort of error that Garrett seems to really hate -- poor situational football understanding.

Wade admitted the error on that one. Of course, the day it mattered was a day that Colombo would have ended up playing anyway

We had no one else behind Gronk -- he wouldn't have seen the field as much if Phillips weren't hurt.

I haven't read anything specifically from Garrett on Choice's blocking -- however I've seen that criticism made several times by various writers who cover the team. Honestly, last year it is hard to know anything about Choice's blocking since he rarely played in that role. I do know this -- there is something keeping his tail on the bench.
