Davis and Columbo, why did they play those final meaningless games last year?

The season was lost. The Cowboys already knew what they had in Bigg and Columbo. Those two sucked and underachieved the whole year. Worried about hurting their pride?

What was the point to trot those two out there against Philly's 2nd and 3rd stringers knowing they could/would be cut very soon? I doubt the Cowboys all of the sudden after the season ended started to discuss cutting Bigg and Columbo.

Why didn't they put Young and someone else out there and get some playing time?

Maybe they were more interested in evaluating McGee so they wanted him to play with the veterans.

there was this guy name Jason. Those final games wasn't meaningless to him. He did so well, he was asked to come back this year.

Preaching to the choir dude. Look it up. I've saying this since the games became meaningless.

Easy to say as a fan and probably the best thing to do for the team.

But you just took over as the Cowboys' head coach midseason. Are you going to risk your chances of keeping the job on unproven bottom of the roster young players?

No. You wouldn't. You're gonna do all you can to win as many games as possible.

Considering the position we were in with being impossible to make the playoffs, we could have looked at the younger guys for the future. You still try to win but even the young guys were probably better than the guys we cut.

Because it is far more important to be competitive than to get bottom of the roster guys some playing time. They may not be any good but they are far and away better than the guys that were behind them

This isn't baseball or basketball -- someone is going to get hurt big time if you put scrubs out there. Who were we going to play? Young and Costa on the right side? Those guys need strength from an off season or two much more than snaps at this point

you play to win the game, not evaluate younger players. that's what practice is for and as bad as Davis and Colombo were, they were better than the younger guys at the position.

when Garrett took over we were 1-7, we could've just started Mcgee the whole second half to get a look at him, but winning was more important.

regardless of what he could do, he wouldn't have done it here and obviously didn't do it there either. Sean Lee had already taken his spot on the active 45 so there would've been no point in keeping him.
