We may have signed him to play Guard at the moment. We'll see what happens with Flozell in the off season. I don't personally like Davis too much at LT as he wasn't that great there. But, it may have been Jerry's plan to have him at Guard this year, see how he does, and then judge the progress of McQ and Adams play this season...he may be the next LT for us? Not sure I would love that move, but we would have gotten him for pretty cheap if that ends up being the case down the road.

The guy is making $50 mill, what difference does a couple mill more make?

If someone told you that you could make 5 to 10% more money over your employment career, would you consider the offer or just go, "i make $50k, what difference is $55k going to make?"

Additionally most employments are avilable up to abe 60 or so. At age 35, that is pretty much the endo of the line in the NFL and that is assuming you arevery very lucky. That is a difference of 25 years of working.

It depends. Here in Texas the cost of living is lower than what I saw in DC area or in NY. Where I would have to move clearly would be a factor.

It seems like Davis is more of a RT or OG than a LT. The speed is probably just as important to the LT as the power is. Davis isn't known for his speed.

That would depend on where I would have to move. Cost of living in Texas is cheaper than DC area or NY. I don't think that was a big factor for Davis but when talking average joe where you would have to move plays a part.

True but youre basically saying that 5 to 10% is important but the income taxes/cost of living mitigate that.

I just dont see why people think that once you stop living from paycheck to paycheck you should no longer care about money.

Not just income tax which Texas does not have a state income tax but the overall cost of living is cheaper here. As for Davis if he was offered more from the skins and giants yet still came here it would at least tell me being back home means something to him.

What I heard is Washington offered close to the same money. The Giants on the other hand were ready to offer substantially more. It came down between Dallas and NY. Dallas is home and his family could come see him play. He was supposedly quoted as "absolutely wanted no part of Tom Coughlin". So he took less to come to Dallas. Washington didn't have a chance since they offered the same money as Dallas with Dallas being home.

How are you guys interpreting this?

Myself, sounds like he wants to continue being fat and lazy. Coughlin is well-known as a hard ***.... thoughts?

It seems like that, but that is also not a "fact", as we are familiar with them.

Coughlin is also insane. Tiki and Strahan had plenty of trouble with him.

I guess we will just have to wait and see what Davis brings to the OL. I keep seeing fat and lazy yet he is not fat not when talking about 18% body fat, the guy is plain and simple a big man.

why is everybody willing to pay this bum so much. he has failed at every position he has played. i don't like this move but i'm hoping for the best

If a player fails at LG or RG, they don't move him to LT.

one thing to consider in all this is texas vs. new york or dallas:

1) cost of living. you can get a HELL of a houe for $500-$600k and up. in NY or DC that would get you something average.
2) no state taxes.

so more money up front elsewhere doesn't always mean a better deal overall.

Not even close to average, lol. They couldn't get a townhouse.

wow? really? i don't live up that way so i didn't want to exaggurate, but for $500k here, you could get a nice house in a great neighborhood. my 1900 sq ft house is 8 years old and i paid $130k for it. it's around $160 now. they're putting up brand new "nicer" homes down the street that start out at $300k. you want fancier neighborhoods you can do that and sure, price goes up, but the other $200-$300 can help cover that.

i may have to see about the sq footages of the houses being built there now and get some good ideas of what the market looks like today.

Between state income taxes in NY, and cost of housing in DC, you have to figure that you are looking at around 5% difference between there and Texas. At 7 million a year that is $350,000 a year more if you choose Texas. Over 7 years that is an extra $2.45 million. And on the signing bonus, which you get right now, no state tax in Texas would bearound $900,000 more then if you lived in NY. Feds get you no matter what, but living expenses and state taxes are not small things.

Are the same people labeling Leonard Davis fat and lazy the same people who called Shawn Andrews fat and lazy?

If so, they have a really, really hard time spotting even the most obvious football talent.

Or a 3 BR house on 7,000 sq ft in Bethesda for 725k....

It's outrageous, lol.
