Good post.

Too early. Even 0-2 teams still think they have a shot.
- Hopefully by the time the picture is clear on good/bad teams, DaRon Bland will have proven himself at outside CB and J. Lewis will have shown that he is still a good Nickel CB.

Shaquill Griffin is likely the type of CB they might get for a 5th. He is 28 and on the final year of his contract.

Marcus Peters is in the same situation. He is 30 and on the last year of his contract.
- The Raiders are tied for 1st in their division at 1-1.
- Will McClay does seem to trade with the Raiders morer than any other team...
Agree, if they trade for a corner, probably more at the trading deadline. I was looking at corners in the last year of their contracts as I expect the front office doesn't want to take on future dollars at the position for a short-term fix.

I realize that but I think maybe you're missing the point a lot of those were because they were forced throws by bad quarterbacks they bounced up in the air most of them he didn't really jump the route and just really take something that .... pass rush is creating a lot of havoc.. I'm not trying to diminish the loss I'm just saying it wasn't like he had the 11 interceptions like the year before...
keep in mind the reason why the pass rush last year all the sudden lost its spark was because we lost lewis and brown. Pass rush helps the secondary, but the true is the same for the opposite, qb holds the ball longer the pass rush has that extra bit of time to get to them, ie coverage sack

I want to try Bland or Scott on the outside. Especially against the Cards, these are valuable reps to assess your depth. You’ve also got Wright and Igbanogani.

I’m sad about Diggs, but let’s not lose our heads just yet

I was concerned in camp that this team needed to add more depth at the cornerback position as we were 1 injury away from last year happening all over again. Sure enough, Diggs goes down after 2 weeks into the season. Now we have to rely on our 3 starters, one being 33 years old for the rest of the season. Huge step back after these three, as we have the likes of Noah Igbin who was a 1st rd bust, along with the likes of Nashon Wright/Eric Scott. Muku is more of a hybrid. Perfect world, they trade for a veteran corner, but that will be difficult, perhaps they trade for a corner who is on his last year of his contract from a team that looks to rebuilding. Here are some names to consider:

-CJ Henderson Carolina-with Horn down for multiple weeks, they won't be trading another top corner.
-Saq Griffen Houston-many remember him as the former Seahawk corner.
-Marcus Peters Las Vegas
-K. Fulton Tenn-he has a better chance of being resigned then traded.

Corners are like offensive lineman, you never have enough and teams throughout the league lack quality depth.

As for Diggs, since he had this injury so early, there is a chance he could be ready at the start of next year's camp. Keeping Gilmore beyond this year makes some sense, but it is time to draft another future starting corner.
I don't think we will make a trade. we will roll with Bland at corner and everybody moves up and has to step up. lets see how we do. if it looks bad and its not working in a few weeks, then perhaps a trade mid-season. but not until then.

I think they are going to roll with who they have and if it goes bad, then maybe they look for someone. Really, not sure they'll be able to upgrade Bland from what I see is available. We are lucky to have that guy all things considered. Very lucky to have signed Gilmore too. Don't want to lose anyone else though.

I agree, probably will add a depth guy to the ps, but if Bland or Lewis goes down or struggles, then they will look to the trade market.

I do not think this team will trade big for a vet CB, ..plus I think we only have 3 draft picks remaining
(rounds 1st 2nd and 3rd ?) at this time for the upcoming NFL draft, those are premium picks
and I do not think the team is gonna exploit that kind of team capital money and draft pick investments
in a new vet starting CB.

If anything I could see a one year deal (5-6 mil ?) on a notable vet FA who has starting experience
ala Jason Verrett (Niners currently recruiting him?) or 33 yr old Casey Hayward or Kyle Fuller
-in according to what the team feels they still may have play skills left.

I wonder if NFL teams feel Marcus Peters has baggage and his demands are not worth it.

I don't think the Rams are ready to give up on this season.
Not publicly, but the guys running the show arent dumb, and know there are a couple of nice QBs coming out.

I think Donald is moved at the deadline. If it’s only a first and a later pick, and if they can make it work cap wise I’d do it.

That guy pushes us to another level, albeit for likely a limited time for one reason or another.

They will roll with who they have and see what happens over the next 3 or 4 games.

Grrrrr….I’m still shaken by it, but there’s some other names we couldn’t have covered for quite as easily.

I’ll say this….even without Diggs, I like our CB room more than many recent past years when we had high expectations.

The staff is very, very high on Scott for some reason, so maybe this allows him to dress and develop a little sooner. He is on the older side for a rookie.

Bland did struggle in the preseason games on the outside, he will be given every chance to succeed. We are back where we started at the end of last season but with Lewis back.

There has been an ownership relationship between the Raiders and Cowboys since Jerry Jones became an owner in the NFL.

If we trade high draft picks for a corner, then we are back to the same stupidity that kept us mediocre for so long.

I agree, probably sign a veteran to the ps for depth purposes first. Now if another injury or poor play happens, then they will look at the trade market. Hayward for example is an unsigned veteran who played for MM in the past, he makes some sense, even Brown if he is healthy.

I don't think they're going to trade for anyone. My guess is they sign Anthony Brown to a cheapie one year contract for depth. He knows the coaches and some of the personnel, and is as good (bad?) as any other street free agent out there. After that, they'll hope they don't need to play him.

Igne. No, I will not even attempt to spell it. The CB we traded for Joseph could very well be the next man up.

Can someone remind me which of the last 7 years of super bowl teams and conference champions teams Diggs played on?
