we got to see the game...got Verne Lundquist and Warren Moon's call of the game...love Lundquist, but man he botched a bunch of names..."Tyus Thompson"- he must have said that half a dozen times....didnt seem right though to have Lundquist calling the game FOR Seattle...

on to the game:

1) loved Romo's game...after that disaster first series you couldnt ask for much more...made one bad throw/decision in my opinion otherwise played well...would have liked to see some deeper downfield throws, but didnt look like that was in the game plan...

2) OL was so-so IMO...Romo dodged a few possible sacks to bail out the OL so the no sacks allowed is misleading...run blocking was poor at best as none of the RB's had much room to run, I think we ended up averaging 3.1 yds per carry for the game...that stinks...

3) run defense was outstanding...pass rush was definitely better than what we've had in recent years...even the 2nd team defense fared well when the Seahawks left their first team OL in...Ellis, Glymph (2 sacks for him, although one was when he was unblocked), Singleton (met at QB just ahead of Burnett from other side), Pepper Johnson (one of the defensive plays of night IMO) and Ayodele (I think he got credit for a sack on a QB scramble) got sacks...no picks, but Glenn almost nabbed one and Ayodele should have had one that might have been a TD had he held on

4) only negative on D IMO was a couple of way too soft zone coverages that gave up 20+ yd completions to guys wide open in the secondary...one was on 3rd and 23 and was awful (3 man line, 8 drop and still the guy was wide open 20 yds downfield)

5) if Crayton is ok then I really dont see the need for additional WR help...Hurd and Crayton were outstanding, Rector was good too

6) on the rookies, none really stood out the way we'd have hoped but they were ok...I was pretty impressed with McQuistan who got alot of time at LT...Fasano dropped a ball and got absolutely blew up on a short yardage run play...Hatcher showed potential...Carpenter seemed to be very fluid and get good drops but didnt do much to stand out...Green was ok on returns, nothing more....Watkins made a couple of not so good plays and one good tackle on special teams...Stanley didnt stand out but didnt do anything bad that I saw either

7) too many penalties, though we definitely got hosed on a couple of them IMO

8) Suisham= weakest leg in team history...I saw him warming up last yr when I was at the Cardinal game and mentioned to the other fans how weak his leg looked in warm ups, and last night he needed a fluke bounce to clear a 30 yd fg

overall this has to be the best preseason opener we've played since Parcells got here IMO...we look like a deep team and barring a run of really bad injuries to a few of the key guys, we should be in good shape

Disagree on Skyler. 3 PR's for 11.7 avg and 1 KR for 29 yards.

Do that all year and it's the best we've had in a decade their.

i love sam hurd.

Hurd would have impressed me much more had he not dropped two passes.

After reading all the hype, I certainly did not expect to see two dropped passes.

Hopefully that was just rookie nerves.

NONE of our backs had any daylight to run to- at least between the tackles.

The great thing about him is he just turned 21 in April. For a KID his age and to come out and make a few clutch plays like he did last night showed me a lot.

Im not saying he was amazing or anything but I can see the potential there. Very polished for a 21 year old.

And im not that upset with the OL. This was their first full week together and I thought they looked pretty good together. Nothing great but solid for a preseason opener and it will only get better imo.

I was very impressed with Green, 12 yards per return is pretty damn good

And the thing is, it didn't look like he got 12 yards. Seemed he got 5 or 6. Then it ends up being 12. He's learning still as we all know. But I took this as a positive.

Think about it this way. That's one less 1st down the Offense needs to convert.

Good assessment. Green got better as the game wore on.

I was impressed with Hurd in his first game at this level--two drops, but I didn't expect Jerry Rice.

Watkins was good on Special Teams.

The "No sacks" was misleading... BUT having a QB that can "check off" in less than 5 minutes is going to reduce sacks.

David you were one of the ones that blamed the o-line entirely for last year's mess-- maybe last night you finally understood the good things that can happen when you have a QB that can get rid of the ball in a reasonable time frame.

You put vitually any other QB in back of last year's O-line and you would have had at least 10 less sacks--- Is 40 good enough? Hell no. But it would have been a damnsite better than 50.

This is nothing new, this has been a problem for many years now. We would do well on first and second down but on third down teams were able to convert on us even on downs they shouldn't have like 3rd and 25. We got to quit play soft so much on 3rd down, Newman is as good as he's ever been and Anthony Henry is a good corner also.

That's the one thing I don't think anyone has brought up yet. This has to be the first highly promising preseason game kickoff in a LONG TIME! Not only the preseason, but even during the first regular season game, it's usually the Titanic around the Zone, but this year, all we're doing is arguing about the incredible depth we have and players that should be seeing more time.

Thank you Parcells.

I'm pretty sure Suisham almost missed that kick due to a bad hold by Henson. Could be wrong though, I'll have to check the video.

Suisham's kickoffs looked pretty strong to me. Why do you say his leg is so weak. There was clearly a SNAFU on that FG--you can't really believe that's as far as he can kick it...

He seems to have that wreckless abandon/determination when RAC (ala TO) anyone else get that? Can that be taught? Is TO teaching him that?

Yep. Even Parcells appeared to offer him some praise after one of his returns. And you know BP doesn't do that often. One thing about Green is that he is bigger than I thought. I saw some college footage and he appeared to be a smaller dude, but he has the necessary speed, and a bigger frame will help cushion some of the hits he'll be taking.

Cowboys will have a game changing defense with more depth than any team in the league...
Watkins should start at safety.. he will be a play maker.....

OLine still as concerned as ever..

Romo is Jason Garrett's twin....

So much depth at linebacker that a very good player or 2 will be playing for other teams come Sept 11th..
