It was different, instead of a big pack together through out the race it was cars running with partners. However to me it was interesting to watch as guys would be looking for drafting partners at the restart and not always able to find someone right away.

It was a whole new strategy. I thought it was exciting. I mean, the tandem racing was great because you didn't have one or two or three cars run away with the race. You had cars that went from 12th to first in a matter of seconds and watching and listening to the drivers talk to each other, making deals about who would run with who was fantastic.

If you didn't enjoy that, something is wrong. The change on the front of the car, the repaved track with improved grip and the fact that Goodyear brought a fantastic tire made for a phenomenal race.

I hope next years race is just as exciting.

that's the first time you've seen something like that on tv in a restrictor plate race? really?

I think it was the first time they focused on something like that when it was so dramatic. Before the new front end when a car would draft with another the air flow would be farther down on the nose of the car. With the new design, it seems to be higher on the hood. There was times at nearly 200 mph that strap would barley move.

That is a dramatic change.

I like it but then I like racing. It was different than other Daytona races but different does not mean bad. At restricted plate races normally you don't get any car that is too far out in front, they tend to remain in the large packs and that ends up creating some big accidents on the track
