I saw this guy when watching the NFLN special, and I wondered, who is that guy? And, I thought I saw Colombo talking to him a few times.

Not only is Colombo helping the pass rush drills, he know what to do against an offensive lineman.

That's a good idea !

OXNARD, Calif. – One of the most competitive drills each day in camp is when head coach Jason Garrett huddled the entire team around a specific 1-on-1 drill, calling out two players to the middle.

The aptly-named “Compete Drill” is something Ben Gardnerhas only observed in his short time with the club. But that changed this week when Garrett called out Gardner to face tackle Darrion Weems.

“That’s fun. You always want that chance,” Gardner said. “We do it every day but I had never been called out before. When it’s your time, you just block everything out and do what you do.”

What Gardner did was simply win his battle with Weems, yanking the offensive tackle off-balance to get past him. That’s one of Gardner’s few pass-rush moves, but when it comes to pass rushing, the “less is more” approach might be the best.

“You don’t really need all that much to be successful,” Gardner said. “You don’t need a whole laundry list full of pass-rush moves you just need to be really good at what you do and just have two or three things that are your Go-To’s and that’s what you can do to be successful.”

The more tools you have the more likely you are to have the right one.

Besides everyone knows the one with the most tool wins.

It is players like Ben Gardner that make really good teams great. They are the special role players that will fill in and play admirably.

The Cowboys had many of these type of players during their championship years. I am thinking of players like Kenny Gant, Derrick Tunnell, Scott Case, Elvis Patterson, Chad Hennings, Joe Fishback, and Jimmie Jones.

Really excited about Gardner and what he can bring to our defense.

ive been waiting for him to suit up for a yr. his injury was a blessing for this team an how he fell in the draft, IMo i think he wouldve been a Rd1 pick in the draft if he had played the whole yr. He was dominating teams before his injuries. The guy is really athletic and very strong. Last yr he looked like a vet out there with the rookies. Hes going to suprise a whole lot of people. I wouldt be suprised if he knocks Mincey out of the roster and takes his snaps. The team has been Playing him on the right side. And they say he did really well.
