Cowboys safety Barry Church joined KESN-FM 103.3. Here are some highlights.

First impression of Byron Jones, who will be lining up next to you at corner in the slot?

Barry Church: Aw, he's a freak athlete. He has tremendous hands. He never lets that ball bobble. I definitely see him out going up with the receivers for contested balls and bringing them down. He can jump with the best of them. He just seems like he's super athletic and willing to learn. I'm excited for him.

How different does this year feel coming off that 12-4 season?

Barry Church: We felt like last year was a good season. It was a good season. We want to be great. Last season was a building block for us. Now we want to go out there and earn just as many wins or more and get back into the playoffs and try to get to that next level. We know with the team we've got, we're capable of doing that.

I can see it now- Dez is gonna own him, board will overreact just like it did when Ware owned Tyron his first year at LT..

Of course Dez is going to own him. Jones probably sprains a knee trying too hard against Dez and everyone freaks out. 3 weeks later, he'll be back on the field.

Why do you think so? He has the speed, strength, and jumping ability to cover Dez. Nonetheless, I think its going to be a great battle. Can't wait for camp to start.

Dez is a top 3 wr in this league. Now some low first round rookie is going to give him trouble?

I'm as excited for Jones as the next guy but you're talking silly.

Not like Dez has never had probs with cb's covering him. Top 3 wr or not.

We will see. Jones is not your typical Mo Claiborne washed out corner. He's very athletic and physical. Plus he is probably one of the few corners that might be able to out jump Dez. Last I heard Dez has a hard time with physical corners.

If Jones does get beat by Dez than so be it. There is nothing wrong with that. Besides, he's only a rookie. But he has the physical tools to keep up with Dez and then some. So what I might be saying is not silly talk.

Mo won some battles against Dez in practice. It happens the difference is doing it every play. He can't shut him down especially as a rookie but I see him winning some. I think Jones becomes better by going against Dez and that's a good thing

Can you imagine what he must think each morning when he gets up and thinks about going up against Dez every day?

Dez is going to beat him like a rented mule.

I think the same thing, but, like Tyron Smith going against DWare in his first training camp, I think it will end up getting him ready to use his physical gifts when the games count.
