I can see it now- Dez is gonna own him, board will overreact just like it did when Ware owned Tyron his first year at LT..

Good point
Hopefully the board knows better by now

Anyway, I doubt he goes up against Dez every day anyway

Nothing against the rookie but put it like this... If he was manned up with Dez in a real game for the entire game the only question would be if Dez ended up with 200 yards receiving or 300.

That's why Dez is worth the money he will get. I don't care if it's Revis or Sherman or the rookie. Without zones and rolling a safety to his side you just can't expect anyone to stop him. The chemistry with Romo just doesn't give anyone a chance one on one. It's not even fair to expect it.

Why do you think so? He has the speed, strength, and jumping ability to cover Dez. Nonetheless, I think its going to be a great battle. Can't wait for camp to start.

Practice favors the receivers over the DBs, especially 1-on-1 drills.

My question is: how does Church know that? Rookie camp where only rookies attend? Or, has he watched film, like anybody else? Did he read it in a blog somewhere? I don't doubt Jones' athletic ability, but I think it is a bit premature for a vet DB to talk about jones coming down with a contested ball

Considering Dez is arguably the best WR in the game, and a savvy veteran, he better. But don't think for a second Dez won't get owned a few times by the rook.

What does getting owned a few times mean?

Will Jones have a few pass breakups? Yes.

Can you imagine what he must think each morning when he gets up and thinks about going up against Dez every day?

Well if he plans on being a corner in this league for long he's going to look forward to the challenge and have a short term memory when he does get beat.

Just trying to add some perspective to your "beat like a rented mule" comment. Nothing more nothing less. Thanks for clarifying.

We will see. Jones is not your typical Mo Claiborne washed out corner. He's very athletic and physical. Plus he is probably one of the few corners that might be able to out jump Dez. Last I heard Dez has a hard time with physical corners.

If Jones does get beat by Dez than so be it. There is nothing wrong with that. Besides, he's only a rookie. But he has the physical tools to keep up with Dez and then some. So what I might be saying is not silly talk.

Dez will beat him but that's part of the process of developing
Dez is an elite receiver and he will beat any rookie and the vast majority of vets
The key is not whether dez can beat him but can he learn from being beat

To reiterate Church's initial point, Jones' pSPARQ score was 150.8, which puts him in the top 0.1 percent of all NFL cornerbacks athletically. And that doesn't take into account that he's over 6 feet tall and has 10-inch hands.

I know that Dez will beat him. But just I don't think he's a scrub like Mo Claiborne who is easy to beat. He has the physicality, speed and the athletic ability to give Dez a run for his money. Thats okay for me. I think the kid will be up for the challenge and if he gets beat by Dez I'm ok with that also.
