Plus his name is Cletis! How awesome is that?

Nothing tops Jethro Pugh in the name category. Jethro was born and raised to be a Cowboy.

IRVING — The Dallas Cowboys signed cornerback Cletus Gordon to fill the roster vacated by running back Chauncey Washington, who was released on Monday.

The Cowboys had hoped to re-sign former TCU safety Marvin White. White was released on Saturday to make room for Washington, who was needed to shore up the injury-depleted running back corps. However, White was claimed off waivers by the Detroit Lions, leaving a hole in the Cowboys secondary that is now without starting strong safety Gerald Sensabaugh for at least two weeks and possibly four with a broken plate in his right thumb.

With cornerback Alan Ball able to play safety, the Cowboys signed Gordon to fill the void.

Gordon played for Cowboys coach Wade Phillips in San Diego in 2006. He has also played for the Houston Texans and Detroit Lions.

best i remember its how many games you play in the nfl as a player, gordon has surpasssed that, best to my knowledge

A player is eligible for the practice squad for up to three years upon entering the NFL.

As long as the player isn't on the 53 man roster for 10 games his first year or during his second year, he will be permitted to remain on the PS for a third season.

I had thought Isaiah Stanback was ineligible for the practice squad because he was active for 10 games over the course of his two seasons with the club and was surprised to see the Patriots get him on theirs.

So it isn't total games played, you just can't be on the active roster for 10 games in a single season.

Well that was 10am this morning and now it's 7pm in Dallas so it won't be anymore today. Bottom of the roster churning i would suspect.

Cowboys to add Cletis Gordon

With a roster space available after waiving running back Chauncey Washington on Monday, the Cowboys will give it to cornerback Cletis Gordon, provided he passes a physical first.

Gordon played for Wade Phillips in 2006 with San Diego but was cut by the Chargers in August after they gave him the second-round tender as a restricted free agent. He was later cut by Houston and claimed again by Detroit ... and cut again.

At 6-1, 205, Gordon has size and speed. In 29 career games he has 22 solo tackles and three pass deflections.

With Gerald Sensabaugh out with a broken thumb and rookie Mike Hamlin still two weeks away because of a broken wrist, the Cowboys need safety help, however, it looks as if they will give Alan Ball more time there in the interim.

DeAngelo Smith, a fifth-round pick of the Cowboys in April, recently re-signed with Chicago's practice squad. Had the Cowboys signed Smith - or any other practice squadder for that matter - they would have to keep him on the active roster for three weeks. With Sensabaugh possibly returning quicker than four weeks and Hamlin available after the Oct. 18 bye, they didn't look that route.

We are dying at WR, Matt Jones is cheap right now and has a chip on his shoulder, chomping at the bit to shut up the naysayers like a lot of people here. Bring him in give him a shot, if he produces, great, if not, he will never play again in this league. There's no doubt that he will get that last chance somewhere at some point and how stupid would it be for JJ who has given punks like Pacman a chance, to pass on Matt only to have it come back and bite him later on. I can already see Jones having a critical play or two to help beat the Cowboys down the road and JJ with that dumb look on his face. Don't be an idiot Jerry, you've made much worse investment risk than this.

Here......:bang2: save you the trouble, whatever, time will tell who's right with Matt Jones just like Felix Jones.

Makes me wonder why no one else has signed Matt Jones?

Nobody wants Matt Jones people. There's a reason. 32 teams, some with far bigger issues than we have at the position. NOBODY wants him.

He isnt worth wasting a roster spot on here. He's a guy that catches nothing but 8 yd passes. Thats the crap some of you are complaining about now. He has zero ability to help this team.

8 yds. avg., really???

2008 NFL Recieving stats #44 M.Jones
<<< 12 gms. - 65 catches - 11.7 yds. avg. >>>

He makes the top 50 in the league in 12 gms. with the same 11.7 yd. avg. as Boldin in Arizona, guess he sucks too huh. Btw, as bad as Romo can be he is still a little better than Garrard don't you think?
Okay, here we go... #69 P. Crayton 39 catches - 14.1 yds. avg.
#143 M. Austin 13 catches - 21.4 yds. avg.
#178 R. Williams 19 catches - 10.4 yds. avg.
